"He will be fine." Garnet said.
"But what if he's not?" Garnet spoke again.
"I can see it, he will be fine." She continued.
"No you can't, I can feel it. Your lying to keep me calm. You can't see anything." Garnet sighed.
"You're right, but we can still hope."
"Hope won't do shit."
"Ruby!" Garnet reprimanded herself.
"Sorry, I just..."
"I know. Don't worry about it, we have to stay strong for the others."
"Yeah, the others." Garnet smiled. She blinked rapidly. It took a lot out of her to speak to herself.
" I Love you..." Garnet grinned ear to ear.
" I Love you too." It was hard to get herself to say that. They felt it, it just felt like saying three words wasn't enough to show their love. She put her hands on the temple door. Her gems glowed brightly as the door opened. She stepped out and heard it close behind her. Garnet turned to Pearl and Amethyst, who were at the counter. They instinctively looked at her. She nodded slightly and they both jumped on the warp pad.
"One moment, before we go, where's Steven?" Garnet asked.
"He went to the donut place." Pearl stated.
"You mean the big donut?" Amethyst said before laughing loudly.
"Good." Garnet said. The gems stood on the pad, waiting for her to send them to their mission. "Gems, we need to find an antidote. If not an antidote a way to get the gem out of Steven's body."
"I forgot to tell you guys, Steven found out the gem's name. Her name is Aventurine." Amethyst said.
"Why didn't you tell us this before?" Pearl snarled. Amethyst shrugged.
"Did you not just hear me? I said I forgot." She said. Pearl immediately walked off the warp pad. She began to pace quickly around the room.
"What's her problem?" Amethyst asked Garnet. Garnet sighed.
"Pearl...Pearl doesn't....doesn't really-er...like Aventurine. They don't really...get along well."
"Why not?" Amethyst asked curiously.
"Back during the war, Aventurine was a kind of, battle type gem. Her soul purpose was to kill and shatter gems. She has venom coursing through her veins. All she cares about is Vengeance. It's all that fills her mind. Anybody who has ever wronged her in any way, she will always find out how to hurt you. I'm guessing since she is using Steven, she will use words and emotions to get to you. An Aventurine tried to challenge Rose Quartz. Pearl immediately voluntarily took her place. Pearl, by miracle, won the battle. It was a long difficult battle, but Pearl pulled through. The Aventurine gems swore vengeance on the crystal gems. We haven't seen any since. If that one gem manages to multiply, all of us will be shattered." Garnet spoke softly, she knew Steven would enter at any moment.
"Hm." Amethyst said, taking in all the new information.
"If she comes back-I-I..." Pearl trailed off. "I got lucky the first time, next time I will be shattered!"
"Not only you, us as well. They're going to target you first...then us after." Garnet clenched her fists around her gems. She had an advantage, the gauntlets. Which would protect her gems. She just has to remember not to put them away at anytime during the battle.
"Hey guys!" Steven said happily as he entered the house. They're heads simultaneously turned to him.
"Guys?" He said. Pearl cleared her throat.
"We were just about to go on a mission." Pearl said, a bit too fast.
"Yeah, bye little dude." Amethyst added. She waved at him before Pearl stepped on the warp pad and they disappeared in a beam of light.
"But...we're almost the same height." He said it without thought.
"Guess who's back?" Said a voice. It echoed throughout his mind loudly.
"Aventurine." He answered out loud calmly.
Deep down he was petrified.
"Think I didn't hear that?" She said playfully.
"Hear what?"
"I'm deep inside your head. I can hear your thoughts and know what your feeling. I know you are afraid of me. I won't forget that."
"Can you just leave me alone? Please?" Aventurine laughed evily.
"You think asking me politely to leave you alone will work?"
"Little bit, yeah." Steven replied.
"You are a sorry excuse for a gem..."
"Well you're a weird gem for being in my head." Steven said, trying to regain his pride.
"I will proudly call that a compliment. Time is ticking, and your walls have been cracked."
"What's gonna happen when you break them?" He asked curiously.
"Well, the transformation has already started. You know that weird feeling in your side? It's me. If you check now you will see your side will look like stone. Once your defenses have been crumbled, I will multiply. I will set you as co-pilot so you can watch while I destroy your family." Steven quickly lifted up his shirt and saw a patch of what looked like stone on his side. He ran his fingers over the patch. It felt like hundreds of tiny little balls.
"That, is my brethren." Aventurine said with excitement peeking in her voice.
"Go away." He said swatting at the patch.
"That won't work child. You will never get rid of me. I can promise you that."
"Don't make promises you can't keep."
"Oh but I will keep this one. I will make sure to never break it. I will keep that promise with my life."
"Leave me alone!" He yelled. Aventurine scoffed.
"I will leave you alone, for now. But know I am doing this for me. Not for an obese gem."
"Heeeeeeeeeyyyyyy." Steven replied, suddenly feeling really self-conscious.
Silence answered him. He was happy for it. He could be alone with his thoughts. Steven poked his head outside. He was greeted by a sundown. He immediately gasped in delight. The sundown was so beautiful. The sun was sitting halfway in the ocean, it's reflection continuing for miles. Everything suddenly had an orange tint. His eyes turned to stars as he stepped outside. Steven walked to and sat on the beach. He brought his knees to his chest and wrapped his arms around his legs. He observed the beautiful sight. It was the perfect time of day where you could look directly at the sun and not have to immediately look away in pain.
"I wish Connie could see this."
