Chapter Eleven

This chapter still includes the preview cuz it's kinda important so here's your new chapter :)

Steven watched a cloud of darkness spread towards him. He was in a very dark room and the clouds were washing over him. He breathed in only for him to find out he actually couldn't. He put his hands to his throat and clawed at it, hoping that maybe he could catch one short breath. Steven's vision turned blurry and he began to see spots.
"Please." He managed to say through his last breath. Suddenly, the cloud of darkness started to retreat. It slithered backwards and dissipated into nothingness. He breathed harshly in the darkness, taking deep, slow breaths. He blinked slowly as he straightened his breathing.
"Steven." A voice said. It sounded so distant but if felt like the voice was right next to him. "STEVEN!" The voice sounded so loud but so far. "STEVEN WAKE UP!" The voice said.
"Wait." Steven said. "That sounds like-"
He bolted awake and sat upright, breathing heavily. He had to scrub his eyes to adjust them to the sudden brightness. He looked around and saw Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl standing in front of him.
"You okay dude?" Amethyst asked suddenly.
"Y-Yeah I think so." Steven responded. He looked out the window and was greeted by a beautiful sunrise. Just watching it made his mind change gears to Connie. Yesterday's occurrences washed over him and warmed him like hot water.
"Steven." Pearl said. He snapped his head to her.
"Hmm?" He asked.
"I asked if you wanted some breakfast." She said. He nodded as she stood up and walked downstairs.
"The new appliances came in." Garnet said. "We can now have a together breakfast." She added.
"Nah, that whole experience has ruined together breakfast for me." Amethyst laughed loudly.
"It did try to kill us." Amethyst agreed. Steven rubbed his eyes one more time and hugged them both at once. They hugged him back and quickly released him.
"I had a nightmare." He said.
"Another one?" Garnet said.
"Pearl told you?" Steven asked. She nodded.
"I don't know for some reason I couldn't breathe. This black smoke didn't want to let me breathe."
"Strange." Garnet said.
"Yeah man that's some really janked up stuff." Amethyst said. Steven yawned.
"I know." The smell of bacon and eggs filled his nostrils. He jumped off the bed and flew downstairs (skipping the last step). He ran to the counter and looked over it. There were three plates layed out on the table. Two had bacon and eggs on them and one was empty. He heard Garnet and Amethyst walk down behind them. Amethyst quickly grabbed a plate and swallowed it.
"AMETHYST!" Pearl exclaimed.
"What?" Amethyst replied as she burped.
"Stop eating the plates, we only have so many!" Pearl said. Steven picked up a plate and took a bite out of a strip of bacon.
"Garnet, I didn't know if you wanted to eat so I left your plate empty. I did make a little extra food in case you did so-"
"I'll eat some." Garnet replied. Steven glanced at her and gave her the sweetest smile he could muster. She grinned at him as Pearl placed some eggs and bacon strips on the empty plate. She picked it up and took a bite out of a strip.
"We don't have any missions today so Steven, would you like to hang out?" Garnet said as she scooped some eggs into her mouth with a spoon. He nodded furiously as he set his empty plate in the sink, which Pearl immediately jumped to clean it. Garnet set her empty plate on the counter and Pearl grabbed the dishes and shoved them in the sink. She cleaned them quickly and turned around, disappointed that there was nothing else to clean.
"Maybe we could clean the beach house today." Pearl suggested.
"It's brand new, what is there to clean P?" Amethyst said from the couch. Pearl sighed. She set her arms on the counter and put her head in them. She looked up to find Steven staring at her with stars in his eyes. In that precise moment Pearl almost choked with the realization of how every time she would see Steven, she would see Rose. The Star eyes made her a feel a wave of warmth. It was as if she was right there with them.
"What?" Pearl asked. His star eyes disappeared making Pearl a feel a bit disappointed.
"Can we go to the arcade?" Amethyst asked.
"NO!" Steven yelled. They looked at him strangely. He blushed slightly and spoke. "You guys don't do so good in the arcade." He said. Pearl stroked her chin, deep in thought.
"Your right. But were do you think we should go?" She asked him. He smiled.
"I want to go to the big donut." He said.
"Why? You just ate." Pearl said.
"I want to go say hi to Sadie and Lars."
"Who?" Garnet said.
"My friends." He said angrily.
"Ooooh, he means donut guy and donut girl." Amethyst said.
"Lars and Sadie." Steven corrected.
"Fine, but if you don't have any other ideas afterwards, we're leaving." Amethyst said. But he already did.

The bell dinged as they entered the Big donut. Lars looked at Steven and his "friends" enter.
"Hi Lars! Hi Sadie!" He said excitedly.
"Ugh." Lars said under his breath.
"Oh hey Steven!" Sadie answered. "What do you guys want today?" Sadie asked happily. Lars rolled his eyes.
"How about..." Steven looked at the tall mysterious one. "What do you think Garnet?" He asked her.
"I don't know," she patted his head. "Whatever you want." She said in an accent.
"Hmmm..." Steven studied the menu.
"You can do it Steven." Sadie said.
"How about a chocolate donut covered in sprinkles." Sadie looked at Lars. He turned around with some clippers and grabbed a donut. He shoved them in a bag and threw them on the counter. He stared at Steven. Steven looked away quickly. Lars grinned as he realized he had won the battle. But his smile faded as Steven turned towards him. His eyes were an unnatural shade of bright green. Steven glared at him until he spoke.
"Do you have a problem with me Lars?" He put emphasis on the 's' in his name.
"N-No." Lars said startled.
"Cuz it really feels like it. You need to straighten you act. Your starting to piss me off with all that shit."
"I-"
"Steven!" The pale one wrapped her arms around Steven. "You know we don't tolerate that kind of language." She said sternly. He turned to her.
"I'm going to tell you once, and only once. Take your hands off of me Pearl so I can deal with this cunt." She let him go, noticing the eyes.
"He's doing it again." The short one said.
"I've never seen him like this. What's gotten into him?" Pearl said.
"I don't know he did this to me. I don't know he just snapped." The shorty stated.
"Now, Lars. Stop acting like your so much better than everybody else and look at yourself. Honestly take a nice long look in the mirror. What have you done with your life? You work at a donut shop and the only thing you actually like doing is trying to bring down a little boy. That's not so good. I like you serving me my donuts. Because for once I get to act like your boss. I've tried to be your friend but no, your too good to be my friend. You don't let anybody in and you are a piece of shit. A dumbass. A jackass. A worthless bag of garbage. How's that for a put down?" Steven said. He continued to talk, ignoring everything around himself. All of the gems were trying to snap him out of it.
"Steven!" Garnet said. "Stop!" What's gotten into you?" She yelled.
"Little man! Come on! What's wrong?" Short and purple said.
"Steven! This isn't like you!" Pearl yelled.
"You have no-n-n-like me?" Steven stumbled backwards. "I-I am. I-I can't..." He fell backwards into darkness. Just before he hit the ground Garnet caught him.

A/N
It's sorta short. But I will do an extra upload tomorrow. Just for you guys, and the new episode. Like no spoilers, but why didn't they just rip out my heart and crush my hopes and dreams instead? For the record, I am going to skip Nightmare hospital in this series. The only thing I will keep are the lion lickers, and the sword. (Watch the new episode to find out what I mean.) I am doing this because that episode kinda screws with the timeline of the fanfic SOOOO yeah.
