Lane Montgomery's POV (1st person):
As I stepped into the classroom, a wave of anticipation rippled through the air, crackling with the excitement of potential discovery.
"Good morning, scholars," I greeted, my voice laced with a hint of dry humour. "Today, we're diving headfirst into the mystical realm of Shakespearean sonnets."
Rebecca's hand shot up like a rocket, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. "Mr. Montgomery, why did Shakespeare pick sonnets of all things for his poetry?"
"Well, well, well," I began, suppressing a smile at Rebecca's eagerness. "Seems like we've got a budding literary detective in our midst. Shakespeare fancied sonnets because, you know, fourteen lines are just enough to make your head spin with poetic brilliance."
Charlotte leaned in, her enthusiasm palpable. "So, did Shakespeare spill his deepest secrets into these sonnets or what?"
"Ah, the eternal mystery of the bard's personal life," I replied, a twinkle of amusement in my eye. "You'll find everything from love sonnets to existential musings, all neatly packaged in those fourteen lines. Quite the poetic smorgasbord, if you ask me."
The classroom buzzed with intellectual fervor, each question and response adding another layer to our exploration. Amidst the scholarly banter, I couldn't help but notice Rebecca's demeanor, her usual vivacity tempered by a hint of introspection.
As the bell chimed, signaling the end of the lesson, Rebecca approached me with a tentative expression, her resolve shining through her uncertainty.
"Mr. Montgomery," she ventured, her voice tinged with a touch of hesitance. "Could we, um, maybe go over the sonnets again after school? I could use some extra help."
I arched an eyebrow, a smirk playing at the corners of my lips. "Well, well, looks like someone's thirsty for knowledge," I teased, unable to resist the opportunity for a bit of sarcasm. "Sure thing, Rebecca. Meet me in the classroom after school, and we'll unravel the mysteries of Shakespeare's sonnets together."
