Rebecca's beautiful dress and heels ^
Rebecca was in a fog as she walked out of the school, her mind swirling with everything that had happened. Her body moved mechanically as she spotted her sister's car and climbed inside.
"How was swimming?" her sister asked, her voice cheerful.
"It was alright," Rebecca replied, staring out the window, her voice flat. The truth was, she wouldn't have even remembered swimming practice if she had gone; it would have felt like a distant memory after the events of the day.
When they arrived home, Rebecca went through the motions. She showered, letting the hot water try to wash away the grime and the memories. She did her homework, though the words on the page seemed to blur together. When she finally checked the time, it was 6:38. A sense of dread settled in her stomach. She had to get ready for her date with Jack.
Rebecca pulled her hair into a simple half-up, half-down style and put on a plain t-shirt and jeans. She felt numb, the usual excitement of getting ready for a date completely absent. This wasn't just any date; it was with the boy who had trapped her in a janitor's closet and made her agree to go out with him under duress.
Stepping outside, she leaned against the porch railing and waited for Jack to pull up. The cool evening air did little to calm her nerves. She glanced at her watch, the minutes ticking by slowly. Her mind wandered back to Mr. Montgomery and the way he had looked at her, his concern evident despite his stern demeanour. She felt a pang of regret, wishing she could have confided in him, told him what was really going on. But the fear of Jack's threats and the power he held over her kept her silent.
The headlights of Jack's car broke her reverie, and she straightened up, forcing herself to push aside her fear and discomfort. She had to get through this, somehow. As the car came to a stop in front of her house, Rebecca took a deep breath, steeling herself for what lay ahead.
Rebecca got in the car and slammed the door, her frustration and fear bubbling just beneath the surface. Jack turned to her, his eyes scanning her up and down.
"I knew you'd do that," he said, a smug smile playing on his lips. He reached into the backseat and pulled out a dark orange chiffon dress with small flowers studded on the straps. "So, I came prepared."
Rebecca's eyes widened, and she gasped. "No, Jack, this must have cost a fortune!"
"I'm not letting you go to a restaurant looking like that," he replied firmly.
Her eyes flicked over to his outfit: a dark blue suit, perfectly fitted, with polished dress shoes. He looked every bit the wealthy, polished guy he was.
"Here," he added, opening the glove compartment to reveal a pair of heels. "These should fit."
Rebecca stared at the dress, then at the heels. A sense of helplessness washed over her. She wanted to refuse, to walk away from this forced date, but the memory of his threats echoed in her mind. She took a deep breath and reached for the dress, knowing she had no other choice.
"Fine," she said quietly, taking the dress from him. "But I need to change."
Jack smirked. "There's a place just down the road where you can change. Hurry up, we have reservations."
Rebecca nodded, her mind racing as she tried to think of a way out of this. But for now, she was trapped. She just hoped she could get through the evening without any more incidents.
Rebecca felt a knot of unease tighten in her stomach as she stepped into the small, dimly lit room Jack had directed her to for changing. The dress he had given her was beautiful but felt foreign in her hands. She slipped out of her jeans and t-shirt and carefully pulled the chiffon dress over her head. The fabric was soft and delicate against her skin, and the dress fit perfectly, hugging her figure in all the right places.
