Chapter 10

The last hour has been exhausting, to say the least. Aadarsh Bhai is taking me to each and every possible store. However, I am not sad. It might be exhausting but it feels great to be pampered by your older brother. Not every person gets this lucky and I want to enjoy it while it lasts.

"Bhai, not anymore. I am tired now." I whined feeling tired. He looked at my face and his expression softened. "All right, All right, we can go home now."

I smiled in satisfaction. We went to the billing counter and the salespeople holding our things sent the items for billing. There were so many things we brought that I couldn't even imagine what the bill may perhaps reach up to.

We then went to the car and sat down. The car ride was silent. I was busy thinking about how the day had gone. I was pretty surprised at the turn of events. The care and affection that Aadarsh Bhai had shown me was something that I had always longed for and I couldn't express in words how grateful I felt.

The day I left my mother's house, I had never expected that the house I was going to will probably mark the end of my misery. I agree that all the members of this house are not that welcoming but I am sure I will gradually make them like me.

Today, with his words and actions Aadarsh Bhai had shown me and made me feel that he wanted me there with him. I was not just existing, someone wanted me there with them. I felt needed and this made me feel slightly powerful. I know that I am needed by someone which means that they wouldn't simply abandon me like my mother did.

I know that I will forever be grateful to Aadarsh Bhai because he was the first person who made me feel that I am worthy of all the things that I am getting and many more that I wish to achieve.

I felt like I was floating which caused me to open my eyes in panic. Relief flooded my senses when I realized that Aadarsh Bhai was carrying me somewhere. He looked down at me and noticed that I was awake.

"Oh! You are up Sunshine. I was about to carry you to the living room."

"No need for that Bhai. Now that I am up, I can walk."

"However, since I have already carried you halfway, I will carry you to the living room also. Moreover, I want to make everyone jealous."

I looked at him wide-eyed and wondered why would anyone feel jealous. I haven't even done anything. He looked at my expressions and chuckled.

"Stop, overworking your tiny brain Sunshine."

I stopped thinking about other things and enjoyed the feeling of being carried into his arms. After a while, we entered the living room and everyone present in the living room looked towards us. I hid my face in his chest feeling shy all of a sudden.

"Come on Sunshine, don't hide. Show us your face," Aadarsh Bhai cooed. I felt my face heating up. His words made me feel like a baby, but I liked them. I guess that living without affection for so many years has made me crave it.

I then felt him lowering me on the couch. I opened my eyes as soon as I got settled. I looked around the living room to see that everyone except Papa, Bhaiya, and Nishant Bhai was present there.

Maa then asked me, "How was your day, Ruhi?"

"It was amazing Maa! We had lots of fun. I met Hriday Bhai in Aadarsh Bhai's cabin. We then went to an ice-cream parlor and I had 2 of my favorite ice-creams. Next, we went shopping and Bhai bought a lot of things for me. And in the end, I was so exhausted that I slept in the car itself. Oh! I forgot to tell you that we went into a Ferrari SF90. I was so happy."

I stopped only to realize that I was rambling all this while. I looked down feeling embarrassed. I looked up again only to see Dadu, Dadi, Maa, and Aadarsh Bhai standing there with a soft smile on their face along with adoration visible in their eyes. I looked behind them only to see Ansh and Armaan Bhai standing with their mouths open and Arhaan Bhai portraying a puzzled expression.

The silence was broken by Ansh's voice followed by Armaan Bhai's loud yell.

"What! Aadarsh Bhai let you have ice cream and that too 2 and Divyank Bhai allowed you to travel in his car!"

"They never let us do that!"

Maa then quickly intervened trying to diffuse the tension in the room.

"All right, no more shouting. Go to your respective rooms and freshen up. Then come for dinner downstairs. Divyank and your father will not be having dinner with you guys today as they will be late."

We all silently dispersed to our rooms. But, I have to agree, there is no one in this house who has the guts to deny Maa except Dadu and Dadi. But, sometimes Maa turns so strict that they also have to agree with her words.

Dinner was a silent affair excluding the playful banter of Manyu and Ansh. Ansh never leaves any chance of teasing Manyu and Manyu always replies to him sassily. It is honestly pretty adorable to watch.

After the dinner, all of us dispersed to our rooms and I also went into mine. While lying down, I remembered that yesterday Papa had tucked me in but today he is not here to do that again. Somewhere, in the corner of my mind, a thought arose that perhaps it was only a one-time thing. But, then I dispersed them.

I should not be so greedy. They are already loving me a whole lot more than I expected.

My trail of thoughts was disturbed by a knock on the door. The door then opened and I looked up to see Aadarsh Bhai standing there. He came near me and I looked at him with questioning eyes.

"I came here to tuck you in Sunshine. Now come on, sleep quickly. I have planned a great day for tomorrow."

I just lay down feeling slightly giddy. It feels good to be tucked in daily.

Bhai sat down near me and started running his fingers in my hair. After a while, I started feeling extremely sleepy. I felt Bhai whispering in my ear, "Goodnight Sunshine." I also replied to him in a drowsy state,

"Goodnight Darsh Bhai."
