Ruhanika
The silence that fell over the room was deafening. All eyes turned to Prisha, whose face drained of color as she clutched her phone to her chest. The transformation was immediate—my brothers shifted into protective positions around me, while Bade Papa and Papa exchanged a look of silent understanding that sent chills down my spine.
"I—I didn't text anyone," Prisha stammered, her eyes darting around the room like a cornered animal. "I was just playing a game to pass the time."
Divyank Bhaiya extended his hand, his expression leaving no room for argument. "Your phone. Now."
"No!" Prisha clutched it tighter. "It's private. You can't just—"
"Marco," Bade Papa said quietly, and one of his men stepped forward, extracting the phone from Prisha's grasp with surprising gentleness but unmistakable force.
Tears welled in Prisha's eyes as Marco handed the phone to Divyank Bhaiya, who unlocked it with disturbing ease. His expression darkened as he scrolled through what I presumed were recent messages.
"Priya Senghal," he finally said, his voice cold with controlled fury, "has been in contact with someone named Mahendra Kapoor."
The name seemed to electrify the room. Papa's face transformed into something I'd never seen before—a mask of pure, lethal rage that made him almost unrecognizable. Just then, I noticed that the guards brought both Mr. and Mrs. Senghal back into the room.
"Kapoor," Papa spat the name like poison. "That is who you've been communicating with?"
Prisha began to tremble. "He—he's just a family friend. He's known my parents for years. He said if I ever needed anything—"
"A family friend," Bade Papa repeated, letting out a humorless laugh. "Mahendra Kapoor is many things, but a friend is not one of them."
Maa had gone pale, instinctively moving closer to me as if to shield me from the very mention of this man. "Anant," she said quietly to my father, "we need to move Ruhanika somewhere secure. Now."
I looked between them, confusion and fear churning in my stomach. "Who is Mahendra Kapoor? Why are you all so afraid of him?"
"Not afraid," Armaan bhai corrected, his jaw tight. "Cautious. There's a difference."
Papa took a deep breath, clearly trying to regain his composure. "Mahendra Kapoor was my best friend in college," he explained, surprising me with his willingness to answer. "We, I, Jai and Mahendra were inseparable. I trusted him with everything—including my family's business secrets. When I became CEO of Agnihotri Industries, I appointed him as my second-in-command."
"But he betrayed you," I guessed, the pieces starting to click into place.
Papa nodded grimly. "More than you can imagine. He was behind your Ira Masi. We had known both Meera and Ira since our college days, but then we had lost touch. He even tried to harm Ira because she disagreed with being with him. Then, Jai found out about this and gave Ira shelter. We warned him and thought that he would become better. But then he stole proprietary information, sold it to our competitors, and then tried to stage a hostile takeover of our company. When that failed, he..."
