Ruhanika
The gentle rays of the morning sun filtered through the sheer curtains, casting a warm glow across my room. I stretched lazily under the comfortable duvet, relishing the fact that it was Sunday—a day of rest and family time in the Agnihotri household. It had been a month since I started attending Apex Scholars School, and despite the initial challenges, I had adjusted well to my new life.
"Uth jao, Sleeping Beauty," came the cheerful voice of Armaan bhai as he knocked on my door before barging in without waiting for a response. Wake up, Sleeping Beauty.
"Bhaiya, don't you know the concept of privacy?" I groaned, pulling the covers over my head.
"Privacy is a luxury no younger sister can afford in this house, Short Stuff," he grinned, yanking the blanket away. "Come on, everyone's waiting downstairs for breakfast. It's Family Sunday."
I reluctantly sat up, rubbing the sleep from my heterochromatic eyes. "Give me fifteen minutes."
"You have ten," he replied, tossing a cushion at me before sauntering out.
Family Sundays had quickly become my favorite tradition—a day when all the Agnihotris gathered together, setting aside their busy schedules to simply be a family. For someone who had grown up starved of familial affection, these days were precious beyond measure.
After a quick shower, I dressed in a comfortable salwar kameez and made my way downstairs. The dining hall was already buzzing with activity. Dadaji and Dadi sat at their usual places, discussing something in hushed tones. Papa was reading the newspaper while Manyu was animatedly telling him something. Maa was supervising the breakfast spread, ensuring everything was perfect. The rest of my brothers were engaged in various conversations, their voices blending into a familiar, comforting cacophony.
"Arey, dekho kaun aa gaya," Dadaji announced, spotting me first. Look who's here.
"Good morning, gudiya," Dadi smiled warmly, patting the seat next to her. "Did you sleep well?"
"Yes, Dadi," I replied, taking my place between my grandparents. "Until a certain someone decided to rudely wake me up." I shot a playful glare at Armaan bhai, who simply winked back.
"You should thank me, Shorty. Another five minutes and Bhai would have sent Manyu to jump on your bed," he retorted, referring to Divyank bhaiya.
Manyu giggled at the mention of his name. "I would have tickled you until you got up, Didi!"
"And I would have let you," I replied, ruffling his hair as he came to give me a quick hug before returning to his animated conversation with Papa.
"La nostra stella luminosa finally graces us with her presence," Ekansh bhaiya greeted with a theatrical bow. Our bright star.
"How's the school been, Sunshine?" Darsh bhai asked, passing me a plate of fresh fruits. "Settling in well?"
"It's been good," I nodded, accepting the plate gratefully. "The subjects are challenging but not impossible. And I've made some good friends."
"Any boys bothering you?" Nishant asked with a raised eyebrow, a protective edge to his voice. boys
I rolled my eyes at the typical brotherly concern. "No, Bhai. And even if they were, I can handle it."
