When Conan and Kuuga are kidnapped by Vermouth, Agasa rescues them by driving his beetle car. Agasa finds out they have been saved, and Kuuga returns home.
Later on, Ran and Sonoko visit Jodie in the hospital and learn that Jodie is an FBI agent.
Sonoko: What?! An FBI agent? you're secret agent? for real?
Ran: Shhh!
Jodie: *smile*
Ran: Keep it down! We're in a hospital!
Sonoko: Oh, Sorry... but what're you doing in Japan? Are you... undercover?
Jodie: No, No! I just here for vacation! I let big criminal get away back in states, so the bureau tells me to, how you say, take time off! I really am big-big fan of Japanese video games! I get temporary job as English teacher because... well... I want to try something a little different! But my vacation over now! Once I all healed up, I go back to America!
Sonoko: then that treasure map you were looking for...
Vermouth: The FBI find new lead on that bad guy! My boss say I get chance to redeem myself!
Sonoko: Oh... I see...
Jodie: I want to say bye-bye to cool kid, so last night I drop by Dr. Agasa's house. Instead I see cool kid and little girl get dragged into car by shady people. So I tail them! I managed to corner them at dock... but then they shoot me, so I forced to shoot back! I mean with gun manage to grab off them! But you such a big help, Ran-kun! I so surprised you hide in trunk of my car, then call cops and shield little girl! I get, how you say bullet in guy and then bad guys threaten to give up on kidnapping and kill kids!
Sonoko: Is that so?
Ran: I saw a picture of Conan and Shinichi behind a mirror in Jodie-sensei's apartment, so I went to ask about it. But sensei wasn't there, so I decided to go home. But then I saw Jodie's car parked outside with the trunk slightly open. I couldn't resist taking a look.
Sonoko: You couldn't resist, huh?
Ran looks at Jodie happily.
Ran: But this is great! Sensei isn't a bad person! In the beginning, I thought sensei had something to do with Shinichi's incident. I thought she was being threatened by some criminal who wanted to find Shinichi's weak point and then confront them and get rid of them.
Jodie: Oh, those are just pictures of my friends from Japan. Initially, I had them hidden in a cupboard in the living room, but when my friends came over, they thought it was strange, so we put them there instead.
Ran: Oh yeah! Americans like to have family photos around their work desks!
Sonoko: Japanese people don't have this habit, so it's normal to find it strange.
Ran: Speaking of which, when we were in the theatre in the U.S., the actress's dressing room had many pictures on wall.
Sonoko: Oh! That was when you and Shinichi-kun were attacked by the Phantom Killer during your vacation.
Jodie: Speaking of crazy phantoms, I've heard that there are some around here. Be careful.
Sonoko and Ran: Ah, okay...
Sonoka and Ran heard on knock on outside Jodie room.
Sonoko: Sounds like a visitor.
Ran: I guess we'll be going.
Sonoko: Get well soon, Miss Jodie!
Ran and Sonoko walked out and elder man name James come in to check Jodie condition.
