Kuuga and his friends went to Morita's home to find his watch, but instead, they stumbled upon Idetsuki lying on the floor after being hit by a vase while watching TV. The police arrived at the scene.
Takagi: The weapon was a vase full of flowers and water. The murderer took it from the front hall, snuck behind the victim, and smashed her on the head from behind.
Megure: Head trauma.
Takagi: Right. The victim is Ms. Eiko Idetsuki, aged 46, a resident of this apartment building.
Megure looked at Morita.
Megure: This is your apartment, right, Mr. Morita? What's your relation to this woman?
Morita: I... I borrowed some money from her. She came to pick it up today. I paid her the money I owed her and loaned her a movie she'd been wanting to see. She wanted to watch it right away, so I let her use my home theatre.
Megure: You heard the vase shatter, ran in here, and found Ms. Idetsuki on the floor with her head bleeding, right?
Morita: Y-Yes...
Takagi checked the VCR player.
Takagi: She must have been watching the video that was in her hand, and judging from the remote she was holding, she was using this VCR.
Takagi started the VCR player, and the movie "Sakura Sanjuro" appeared on the TV screen.
Megure: Ah! "Sakura Sanjuro"! That brings back memories! I remember how this movie starts! "The path you take must be as beautiful as a blossom and as strong..."
Mitsuhiko: "...like a tree trunk! Right?"
Megure: Huh?
Megure turned towards the kids and Agasa, looking confused, and then turned off the TV screen.
Ayumi: We all heard it!
Genta: She had the volume turned all the way up.
Takagi: You kids! What are you doing here? And Kuuga too.
Kuuga: Hello, we meet again.
???: Huh? Kuuga?
Takagi: Oh, this is your first time meeting, Inspector. This boy's name is Kuuga Yusuke, and this is Inspector Juzo Megure.
Kuuga: Nice to meet you.
Megure: Nice to meet you too, and I remember you. You saved Takagi during another case, but try not to get into fights with other people, okay?
Kuuga: I try to defend myself.
Megure: Why are you here?
Agasa: We are here to help Morita-san look for a missing watch.
Haibara: Then Kuuga found it in the bathroom.

Morita: I was refused by Mr. Mouri, then Dr. Agasa and his kids helped me find it.
Megure: I see, he's not here.
Megure and Takagi whispered to each other.
Agasa: Is there something wrong?
Takagi: No, we were just checking him out.
Megure and Takagi were investigating how Idetsuki died when they went to the kitchen. Suddenly, a police officer named Kazunobu Chiba arrived.
