Kuuga and his friends visit a doll shop and admire the display of dolls.
Ayumi: What a cute doll!
Haibara: It certainly is.
Ayumi: I want it!
Genta: But Ayumi, you already have a ton of girls' day dolls.
Ayumi becomes sad.
Mitsuhiko: Genta-kun, do you remember when you accidentally dropped Ayumi's empress doll and broke its head and arm off?
Genta: Oh yeah, sorry, Ayumi.
Haibara: Can't you get it fixed?
Mitsuhiko: Ayumi took it to a doll shop, but the maker accidentally cut his hand while trying to fix it and got blood on its face! Then Ayumi's mother placed it in an alcove for display, but the neighbor's dog, Peachy, grabbed it and tried to bring it to Ayumi as she was coming home from school! By the time he reached her, all he had in his mouth was the chewed-up, bloody head of the empress!!
Conan: Are you serious?
Genta: That doll must be cursed!!!
Mitsuhiko: That's what Ayumi's father thought! He sealed all the dolls in a box and locked it in a closet.
Haibara looks at Ayumi with sadness. Haibara ask Mitsuhiko.
Haibara: Hey...
Mitsuhiko: So, the curse of the dolls would never... strike back.
Everyone looks at Ayumi.
Ayumi: My dolls aren't cursed! Peachy just wanted to bring me the empress, and her head fell off by accident!
Ayumi: *cry*
Genta: Oops!
Mitsuhiko: Hey, I'm sorry.
Ayumi stops crying and then smiles.
Ayumi: But it's okay! Peachy's owner asked some friends to give me their old girls' day doll set! It's a seven-tier set, much bigger than my old one! They said I can only have it if I learn to put all the dolls in the right places.
Mitsuhiko: There are a lot of dolls in a seven-tier set.
Kuuga: Are you going to do it all by yourself?
Ayumi: Don't worry! I've learned where all the dolls go, and I'm not going to do it alone! Come on, let's go! Their apartment is right down the street!
Conan: No way!
The kids go to Kanno's apartment and meet Setsuko Kanno.
Setsuko: Oh, hello, Ayumi-chan. Do you know how to set up the dolls? You seemed a bit unsure last time.
Ayumi: I can do it!
Setsuko: Okay, let's see you set them up.
Setsuko takes the kids to her sitting room, and they see boxes full of dolls.
Genta: Are all these boxes full of dolls?
Kids opened the boxes and began arranging the dolls.
Mitsuhiko: She was really insistent about getting this right.
Genta: She probably thinks Ayumi will mess up. This is a pain!
Yayoi Kanno entered the sitting room.
Yayoi: Setsuko simply wishes to be assured that you take proper care of the dolls. If you learn how to arrange them correctly, you'll feel much closer to them, won't you? I received those dolls when I was a child. I had them sent here from my home in Kyoto for my granddaughter. Good luck, young lady!
