After the Ghostship case was solved, the monsters celebrated at the party. Kogoro and Sonoko were surprised to discover that Shinichi Kudo was in disguise, and he revealed that it was actually Heiji Hattori. Monocle zombie, who was revealed to be Vodka, joined the monsters' party and reported to Gin.

Gin: Shinichi Kudo?

Vodka: You know, that kid you killed a while back with the syndicate's new drug.

Gin: Sorry, Vodka. I've made it a habit to forget the names and faces of the people I've killed. So what's up? The dead kid came back to haunt you?

Vodka: Nah... But something funny is going on.

Back on the crow mast scene...

Kogoro: Why did you have to disguise yourself as Shinichi Kudo, anyway?

Heiji: Heh... Sorry. Kudo won't come out to play these days, and I started getting lonely. I thought I'd drive him out of hiding if I posed as him to solve a case. Maybe the rumors are true, and he really is dead. Huh?

Heiji thought: What else could I do? Kudo sent me a text asking me to cover the case for him. He said the syndicate was trying to force him away from that little gal. He wanted me to take his place on this ship as a red herring! But I got a shock when his mom turned out to be home.

Medusa was actually Yukiko Kudo, Shinichi Kudo's mother, who disguised herself as Medusa. She made a V sign and smiled at Heiji.

Medusa: V!

Heiji thought: I guess she was worried about Kudo, so she'd been hiding out and keeping an eye on him. Who would have thought the old lady was a master of disguise to rival Arsène Lupin? Thanks to her help, I didn't have to spend the whole party wrapped in bandages.

Heiji heard that Conan arrived to check his Kudo Mansion, and he was shocked to find out. However, he got another surprise when Conan's mother was in the Kudo Mansion, pointing what seemed to be a gun at him. It turned out to be a water pistol, a prank on Conan, who couldn't help but feel a bit tired less about his mother's playful antics.

Heiji thought: The only thing that bugs me is the girl he's got locked up in Doc Agasa's basement. Kudo said he could keep her out of danger as long as she didn't get her hands on those tracking glasses of his. But if I were that girl, I wouldn't want to let Kudo take my place to meet that gang of thugs. I'd lock Kudo out and track him, no matter what...

Back on the container port scene...

As Haibara stood there and observed the situation with Conan and the others,

Conan: R-Run, Haibara! Get out of here... Now...

Conan lost sight of Vermouth, who seized the opportunity. Vermouth activated Conan's wristwatch stun mode and turned against him.

Haibara: *shocked*

Conan was stunned into sleep, and Vermouth gently laid him on the ground beside the wounded Jodie, who was leaning against the side door of Jodie's car.

Vermouth in English: Good night, baby.

Jodie: *panting, wounded*

As Vermouth laid Conan on the ground, she took out another pistol from her ankle holster and ready her gun.

Vermouth in English: And welcome... Sherry!

Back on the ghost ship scene...

Medusa face out the sea and recalled Conan said.

Conan recalled: Mom, I can think of only one reason Vermouth would want to lure me away from Haibara instead of killing us both. That's if she the actress chris vineyard. And her mother Sharon! She must've used her disguise skills to pull I off. Since she's an old friend of yours, she knows what I looked like as a a kid, so she known all along that Conan is really Shinichi Kudo. Guess she been trying she been trying to keep me out of all this. Don't worry! I promised I'll come back in one piece!

Medusa: is he right? Sharon...

Back on the container port scene...

Vermouth readied her gun, and sniper Calvados assumed his position, aiming at Haibara.

Vermouth: Silly girl. You ruined this boy clever little plan... and came here to die.

Haibara removed his tracking glass and keep her pocket.

Haibara: I didn't just come to die. I came to end this once and for all. even if thet arrest you as long as I'm alive... the organization will keep looking for me. will you promise me something? Don't kill anyone else beside me.

Vermouth: Agreed... but I do have to take care of the FBI stooge. But I'll start with you, Sherry. If you looking for someone to blame, blame your parent for plunging ahead on that foolish research...

Suddenly, Vermouth heard Jodie's car trunk open on its own, and Ran emerged. Vermouth, Haibara, Jodie, and Kuuga were surprised to see Ran there.

Vermouth: What? No... how?

Jodie thought: Did she see the photos?

Suddenly, Ran ran on top of Jodie's car, and Calvados fired at Ran but missed as she kept running towards Haibara.

Vermouth: Stop!! Calvados!!

Ran ran toward Haibara, covering her to protect against gunfire and taking cover on the ground.

Haibara: ...

Vermouth stopped Calvados with her gun by shooting beside him to make him cease fire. She then pointed her gun at Ran.

Vermouth: Move away from the little blonde if you don't want to die!

Haibara tried to get Ran out of danger, but Ran continued to protect her.

Ran: No! Don't move!!

Vermouth persisted in firing at Ran and the others, missing each shot.

Ran: I called the police. They'll be here soon. Please!!

Ran continued to hug Haibara. Haibara was reminded of her sister.

Haibara: Big sister...

Vermouth in English: Move it Angel!!

Suddenly, Vermouth heard a loud bang, as if something was hitting a container.

Vermouth: Huh?

She looked toward the source of the noise, near Calvados's high position, and noticed a shadow covering the light source. Looking up, she saw Kuuga preparing to strike with his unsheathed cane sword. Vermouth managed to dodge Kuuga's strike, shocked by his sudden attack.

Vermouth: What!? But how...

Kuuga looked at Vermouth in emotionless and get behind to protect Ran and Haibara and pointed his sword to Vermouth.

Kuuga: ...
