summer break was never a good time for yn.
it seems like a peaceful time, doesn't it? no school meant all day at home, giving her more time to manage housework and other responsibilities, what more could she want?
a moment without worrying about her siblings, who loved their summer breaks.
kanji was away at a two-week sports camp on the opposite side of the country. every time he called her, her heart stopped because she was afraid something would happen (she asked him to call her every day, and he took it seriously).
katsuki stayed at home as usual, rotting in bed, which was his favorite way to spend all school breaks, making yn concerned that he would forget how to walk after a month. she had to remind him to eat and sleep for at least a few hours each day because he refused to do so.
akari also stayed at home, if yn could call it that. summertime for teenagers meant parties and outings, which akari took to heart, and she spent more time out than in home. she was also somewhere else every time she went out, so there was never a day when yn called her to find out where she was and who she was with. surprisingly, akari was not hostile about just giving her that information this year, but it did not make yn any less tense.
yuuto's location was the most surprising of all the siblings, as he had traveled to osaka this summer to spend time with their dad.
at least that was the official version for everyone yuuto didn't want to tell about his long-distance girlfriend in osaka. for example, akari, who would be 'extremely annoying' if she found out, their mother, who would try to act like she cared so much, only making yuuto feel embarrassed, or their father, who... probably wouldn't care, so there was no point in telling him. from what yuuto said phone, he only saw their dad once during his week at his place and barely spoke with him.
so, even though yn wasn't in school, she constantly worried about her siblings who were out of the house, as well as two little kids who were under her wings everyday. her mom had to use hot days to travel as much as she could to beaches all over japan with her friends, so jun was a designed guardian for chiyo and hiroshi for the summer because he had a job and couldn't accompany yn's mom. however, because he worked and couldn't always take care of his stepchildren, they came up with a solution.
chiyo and hiroshi were enrolled in their kindergarten summertime program, so they were essentially going to school for fun during the summer. yn would pick them up around noon and spend some time with them until jun could pick them up on his way home from work.
jun and yn's mom lived on the other side of the city, so the kindergarten was also far from yn's house. but close to kuroo's place.
and he couldn't pass up the opportunity that yn being in his neighborhood every day gave him.
so, since the start of the school break, he has conveniently left the house a few minutes before noon and ran into yn on her way to kindergarten.
"you know that you can stop pretending like you didn't plan on seeing me, right?" finally, yn spoke up as the two of them walked slowly towards the school.
