it took three days for yn to catch the girl who was following her.

'catch' was the wrong word to use, because she was simply in the right place at the right time.

when yn finished her classes around the same time that yuuto finished his practice, she liked to wait for him or even sit in the gym for a moment to watch the team play. this time, it was a hot day, and summer was on its way, so she didn't want to think about how warm the gym would be without fresh air and soft wind.

yn leaned back against the gym wall, enjoying the cool concrete and a few minutes of total calm.

until she heard the slam of the school doors. she looked around and saw the girl struggling with something red and heavy in her hands.

they exchanged glances, and yn was already on his way to her. they would solve it right there and then.

"do you have something to say to me?" yn asked directly. even if she tried, she couldn't find a more subtle way to talk about it.

"i-" the girl began, stopping immediately when yn crossed her path.

if it was easy to talk to yn, miwa would have done it the first time she had the opportunity in the bathroom. however, yn up close was far more intimidating than from a distance. in a good way, because kuroo was fawning over his crush during their practice breaks, it was nearly impossible to think negatively about her.

miwa's relationship with the team was complicated, they were fine, but she wasn't a manager by choice, her parents had signed her to this club, and that was the main reason she didn't want to interact with the team, out of spite. they invited her to their sleepovers, but she declined because hanging out with so many boys would make her parents extremely happy.

she had a few girl friends at school, but none of them were really close, she found that it was difficult for people to be friends with her just at school, because she couldn't invite them home, visit them at theirs, or simply meet up after school somewhere fun. they didn't want to put effort in friendship that they could only have for few hours a day.

that's why she was so excited when yuuto told her yn was going to bet at the a sleepover. wouldn't it be cool to spend some time with another girl doing teenage things? she would even bear ten boys around them if it meant being free of her parents' control for a while. they would be so happy to let her go on a sleepover with a bunch of boys that they would not question why she had suddenly changed her mind and wanted to hang out with boys.

"i just wanted-" after so many attempts to approach yn, miwa found it unbelievable that she hadn't yet figured out how to say what she wanted to say. "i'm manager of volleyball club."

"okay," yn nodded gently, relieved that they were finally going somewhere. she was a little concerned that this girl would turn around and run after she stuttered.

"sawaya miwa," she decided to introduce herself in case yn wasn't aware.

"ln yn."

"i know," she responded right away. "i mean- you're quite recognizable around school, everyone probably knows, and i know yuuto and kuroo, so obviously i would know your name."

yn smiled at her, unsure what she meant when she said that being around kuroo was equivalent to knowing her name. did he talk about her? if so, were they good things? which good things?

"yuuto invited me to a sleepover that he hosts at your house, he said you would be there too, it was actually a trading card, because i said that i don't want to meet up with them for their sleepovers, because there are no girls at them and i would feel awkward, so yuuto- okay, i already said that and explained that, i would just circle around again," miwa let out nervous chuckle, which yn shared with her. "i'm sorry for those few last days, i was just panicking every time i tried to talk to you."

"oh, don't worry about it." yn waved her hand, instantly forgetting every time she had felt weird or suspicious in the few days before. miwa must have had it even worse with her constant stress.

"i tried to just ask if i should bring something," she finally said.

maybe it was the weight of the banner that pushed her to speak, because it was becoming extremely heavy in her arms.

"if you want? the last time they came over, they ate pizza and snacks that i had bought earlier, and the next morning i made pancakes."

yn couldn't believe it was all because of a question about what to bring to the meeting, but she had no right to mock miwa when she was clearly stressed. everyone had different reactions to stress.

"i make good brownies, i can bring a batch," miwa exclaimed, excitedly. after breaking the ice, talking with yn became easier.

"oh, yes, please, i love brownies," yn nodded immediately. she had a sweet tooth and was approaching her period, so any mention of food she enjoyed was like honey to her ears. "you like to bake?"

"no, actually i'm terrible at baking, but brownies are really hard to mess up, so it's my go-to cake to impress."

"i don't think i ever made good brownies," yn admitted, adjusting the bag on her shoulder. "i always end up having to eat it straight from the pan with a fork, because it isn't even worth getting out of it," she said with a laugh. "but i'm great at pastries, i can even make croissants."

"no way you can nail croissants but not a brownie," miwa shook her head, swaying slightly under the banner's weight.

"do you need a hand with that?" yn asked, pointing to the red material.

"it's really heavy," miwa sighed, pain in her breath.

"i'm able to pick up two six year olds at the same time, it won't break me."

after hearing everything from yuuto and kuroo, miwa realized yn was even cooler than she had imagined. how was it possible that words could not express how much of an enjoyable person she was?
