kuroo stared at his phone for a while before finally dialing the number.

it was already late, but it was the weekend, and something told him that yn hadn't fallen asleep yet. maybe it was hope, or maybe it was the fact that the last time they were at her house, she stayed up until 4am easily.

he pressed the phone icon and waited on his back.

"hello?" he heard from the other end of the phone call and immediately lost all of the words in his head. what was he going to say? "kuroo?"

"hi," he exhaled and wiped his face, embarrassed as hell. "did i woke you up?"

"no," yn said, and kuroo heard some clicking noises in the background, like keyboard sounds.

that was good, he wouldn't want to wake her up. given how busy she was, this was probably the only time she could truly rest. maybe she should rest now, and he was just bothering-

"i thought you gave me the wrong number," she chuckled, breaking the silence.

"why?" kuroo asked, shaking his doubts away.

"you didn't text me back yesterday." yeah, he didn't, because he was so worried about what he was supposed to say that he didn't say anything until he called her. he knew that he had tendency to pushing people too far while talking because of teasing subtones and he didn't want to make the answer sound suddenly too casual or too friendly. "i also thought that you're maybe too cool to answer."

"i'm sorry, at first i didn't know it was you, then yuuto told me, but we needed to go then so i put my phone away, and then after the game-"

"it's okay."

"next time i will text you back." kuroo heard yn chuckle on the other side and he felt himself smiling too. "that's not all i wanted to talk about, though."

when yn heard that kuroo sounded a little more serious now, her stress level spiked. she turned off her laptop to focus her attention on kuroo.

"okay?"

"i don't want to be a snitch or anything, but i feel like you should know about this," he started, trying to figure out how to approach the issue without making it awkward. "we have this thing in the team where we're going out to eat after the official games, so we told the first years about it yesterday, i guess there wasn't a time to tell them before, and i probably should've told them before, but that doesn't matter now. yuuto told us that he needs to ask you if he can go, and yamamoto said something about yuuto treating you like his mom, not sister, and yuuto got mad and told yamamoto to mind his own business," he purposefully left out some of the swear words that fell from yuuto's lips, "and yamamoto is a really emotional guy, so it got close to a fight, nothing happened, don't worry about it, we got them to shake hands and say sorry, so everything's alright and i don't think there's any bad blood between them, but i just thought that maybe you should know."
