Telescope

After supper when you got back to your little apartment, your phone pinged and you opened it up.

Bucky: What was for supper?
You: Roast beef, gravy, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. And you?
Bucky: Same. I barely tasted it though.
You: Oh? How come?
Bucky: Do you normally wear a garter?

You fumbled with your phone for a moment in embarrassment and covered your face even though you assumed he couldn't see you. You turned on the light and went to your bedroom and got undressed, trying to figure out what to say. You felt a little mischievous, wanting to see his reaction. He seemed safe enough. You took off your thigh highs and garter and put them on the bed, standing in nothing but your bra and panties and took a picture and sent it to him. As soon as it was sent you started to panic you were being too forward. Your phone rang a moment later, and you saw it was Bucky. You fought with yourself a moment before you finally picked up.
"Hello?" you said with an uneasy smile on your face.
"Doll, are you trying to drive me crazy?" Bucky said on the other side of the phone, his voice was deep and gravely.
"You asked," you giggled.

"What's your apartment number?" he asked.
"21B" you breathed out.
"Top left hand corner?" he asked.
"Yes" you nodded, even though he couldn't see you.
"You should learn to close your curtains," he chuckled.
"What?" you asked in confusion, looking out the window. The compound was far enough away that you couldn't see anything concrete. You could see the balcony that wrapped around the building and it looked like there was some furniture on it.
"Pink bra" he commented and you immediately ducked down and put on a blouse before standing up again.
"Are you looking in my apartment?" you demanded.
"Maybe" he chuckled.
"How?!" your voice went up an octave.
"I wanted to see you, so I pointed my telescope in your direction. I was not disappointed" he chuckled again, his tone full of mischievousness.
"You know, if you wanted to see me you could walk over here and knock on my door" you said, and closed the curtains quickly.
"I don't think I can walk anywhere right now," he said honestly.
"And why is that?" you asked, your face still red.
"I really liked what I saw," he said, his voice dripping with what you thought sounded like lust.
"James Buchanan Barnes, you had better point that telescope back at the sky" you warned him.
"Or what?" he asked, and your eyebrows went up.
"Or... I'll... " you huffed, unable to form a cohesive sentence.
"I got something I gotta take care of, but I'll text you. Good night beautiful" he chuckled and hung up.
You quickly went and got changed into a pair of black sleeping shorts and your matching bralette again. Your face was still red after having gotten caught like that. You cleaned up your apartment and then settled in to read with Melody on your hip.

Bucky didn't know what had come over him. From the moment he had seen you at the bar, he had to have you. There was no one else, and it felt like there had never been anyone else like you. The light of your eyes, the way your face lit up with a smile. Meeting you had put him on cloud nine. He was addicted already. Something about you just made sense to him. He was already picturing you in a house with a white picket fence and pregnant with his babies and children running around the yard. He knew he was getting ahead of himself, but he was determined that he was going to follow this dream. He was making it his personal mission to be your one and only.
He was sitting outside looking through his telescope while drinking a beer. You were laying out on the couch in barely anything with your little cat up on your hip. He had to go take care of himself earlier, and he was still hard in his pants. Thankfully he had changed to a pair of sweatpants. He was thinking about texting you again, but you looked lost in your own world. He knew this would probably seem creepy.
"What exactly are you doing?" Steve came out of his suite to see Bucky looking through the telescope.
"Watching my girl read," Bucky said, a little embarrassed at getting caught.
"Please don't tell me that's aimed in Y/N's apartment" Steve said, a little exasperated.
"Okay, I won't," Bucky grinned. "She knows, I told her" he shrugged.
"And did she tell you to stop?" Steve asked, a little worried.
"Might have come up. She said if I wanted to see her, to walk over and knock on her door" he looked through the viewfinder again.
"And why didn't you?" Steve asked.
"Giving her some space. She's reading. She looks peaceful" he looked up at his best friend who looked honestly worried.
"You know this could be considered harassment, right?" Steve asked him, sitting beside him. "Workplace harassment," he added.
"She's my girl. She just doesn't know it yet" Bucky took another drink of his beer.
"I think you should get to know her more before you decide stuff like that" Steve sighed and took a drink of his tea he had brought out with him when he came to check on Bucky.
"You think she's too good for me?" Bucky asked abruptly.
"No, I think you two are perfect for each other. I just mean, you've known her for four days officially. Wouldn't it be better if you asked her on an actual date instead?" Steve suggested.
"You're right" Bucky picked up his phone and looked through the viewfinder while Steve laughed at his shenanigans. He saw you put down your book and pick up your phone.
"Hello?" you asked on your end of the line.
"Hey doll" Bucky watched as you sat up and brushed your hair behind your ear nervously. "I was thinking..." he trailed off.
"What were you thinking?" you asked, petting Melody.
"We should go on a real date. Not a date disguised as hanging out" he suggested. His grin widened at the giggle he heard from you on the phone.
"So reading together was a date?" you asked.
"You can bet on it," he said, his voice going a little lower.
"Is your viewfinder still pointed at my bedroom window?" you asked, changing the subject.
"Not your bedroom, no" he chuckled and he saw you run to the window and close the curtains. "Is that what you wear to bed every night?" he asked with confidence.
"Yes" he could hear you blushing through the phone.
"About that date" he said, bringing you back to the matter at hand.
"Yes, I'll go on a date with you. But point that telescope at the sky so no one else looks in my room, okay?" you asked and consented.
"I will, for tonight" Bucky did as he promised and changed where the telescope was aimed and Steve nodded in approval. "I'm going to be on a mission for a couple of days, but Friday I wanted to take you to the steak house," he said with a purr.
"Did you want me to make reservations?" you asked curiously.
"No, let me be the gentleman and do it" he shook his head. "Six?" he asked, half expecting you to insist.
"If you can get a reservation for six, sure" you had a smile in your voice.
"I have my ways," he chuckled. "I'll text you while I'm gone" he promised.
"Just be careful," you warned him.
"I have to be now, I want to come home to you" Bucky grinned, and didn't think he could lose his smile. "I'll be seeing you," he said with promise.
"Not if I see you first" you said coyly. "Maybe I'll go to the museum and check you out some more" you giggled.
"If you wanted to check me out, you could always walk over here and knock on my door, doll," Bucky said. "Good night" he purred.
"Good night Bucky" you giggled and hung up the phone. He stared at his screen for a moment and then set his phone down face first on the table.
"So how did it go?" Steve asked with a smirk on his face.
"I gotta make reservations," Bucky said. "And I can't have the telescope aimed at her room when I'm not here"
"I'm sure she meant not at all" Steve burst out laughing.
"She said she didn't want anyone else looking in her window. I'm obviously excluded" Bucky said with a victorious smile and Steve just shook his head in response. Bucky watched Compound B with renewed interest and waited a few minutes and your lights turned off. Steve looked at him expectantly and he smirked again.
"What?" Bucky finally asked.
"You haven't shown interest in anyone for years, it's nice to see you focused on something besides work for a change. Even though I'm a little worried about losing the best assistant I could have ever asked for" Steve finally voiced his concern.
"I'm going to marry that woman, whether you believe it or not. She's the one, punk" Bucky smiled proudly. He had made up his mind about you, the moment he saw you across the room in a crowded bar. And he wasn't going to change his mind in the future either.
