This mission was taking longer than anyone on the team had anticipated, but Tony promised no more missions for the week when they got back and an extra long weekend. Tony got the message on Monday you were headed for a mission, and he was pained that he couldn't take a break to tell Steve or Bucky. No one had their phones on them, but Friday updated him as messages came in. Wanda ended up messaging him after a while that the mission was a rescue mission and they had secured a bulletproof vest on you before you left. Wanda also let Tony know she wasn't leaving Shield until she had you with her again. She knew this was something close to your heart, since you had once been a captive yourself, and you would need a friend closeby when the mission was over.
By Wednesday night, the team had finally successfully taken all of the Hydra agents into custody, and evacuated all of the Shield agents so that they would be safe. Fury had made mention in his request that they shut the entire building down, and take out any and all data so that there was nothing recoverable for Hydra to try to come back and take.
"Shit I'm tired" Clint said as they were sitting down in the quinjet having something to eat. It was mainly dehydrated foods and bottles of water and juice being passed around. They all couldn't wait to get home to have a proper meal.
"You said it" Nat groaned as she leaned into Bruce more for cuddles.
"My phones dead" Bucky frowned, stuffing a granola bar in his mouth. "I wanted to tell Y/N I was coming home soon."
"She's not home" Tony said with a pained look on his face. "Wanda's been keeping in contact with me, and has gone to feed the cats once a day. She's with Fury."
"He didn't," Steve growled.
"What's the big deal if she's with Fury?" Pietro asked while Bucky started to anxiously pace and had a look of absolute outrage on his face.
"Y/N has special skills, and Fury has been bringing her into the field" Tony said gently, not wanting to break your confidence.
"What kind of special skills?" Peter asked.
"That's classified" Steve answered for Tony. "I'm sorry son. It's for her to tell, not for us" he said softly.
"I need to get home," Bucky said, looking pained at the conversation. He kept going from outrage to worry on his face.
"If I may, I do not have the ability to get tired. I can get the coordinates and go to where Fury is and assist" Vision offered.
"Counter offer, can you pinpoint where they are right now?" Tony asked him, not liking that you had been gone a few days. He knew Fury went with you, but he was worried about you. He felt justified in the fact that soon he would have the tracker put in you like the rest of the Avengers, just so that he would be able to find you.
"Are you sure about this?" Steve asked him.
"She could be in trouble," Bucky snapped at him. "We need to get to her," he said with finality.
"Everyone else will stay in the jet, I just want to go in and check on her" Tony said, biting the inside of his lip.
"Is she trained for the field?" Nat asked, her interest piqued.
"No," Tony shook his head.
"I believe I have coordinates," Vision remarked.
"Back up and move away from the hatch, the job's not over yet" Clint called to everyone and stuffed some beef jerky in his mouth.

Three days in your wolf form had taken a toll on you. Fury and Maria Hill had stayed by your side the entire time, while a team of agents were protecting you. Your protective vest had gotten hit a few times, leaving incredibly sore areas all over your body. On the third day, you got too far away from the group Hydra had managed to surround you. You had been so close to finding the hostages, you were sniffing them out. You didn't heed Fury's warning not to go so far, you were desperate to find the poor people that had been taken. It felt like it was over in a flash, quite literally. A flash bomb was thrown towards Fury's team, and you had been separated from them. The next thing you knew you were alone against five men who had guns pointed at you. You knew you had a choice, you could back down and let them take you. Or you could take them on and hope they didn't kill you. The hostages were so close, you knew it wouldn't be far. You let out a menacing growl, and saw one of the agents had a tranquilizer gun, and it was loaded in the chamber. All he had to do was pull the trigger. You went for him first, your wolf took completely over and snarled viciously as you pounced on him. She aimed for his throat as the gun went off and let out a large yelp out as the tranquilizer dart missed your neck by mere centimeters. Four guns swung in your direction as she bit down on his throat and severed the arteries. You ran and hid inside of an open door and looked for any way to escape your current predicament. The four men followed you in and you saw only one exit that was possible. You ran at the partially open window and fell to the ground several feet below. Your wolf groaned in your head and your whole body shook with the jar of falling to the ground. You were farther from your quarry, and you knew you didn't have long before they came outside looking for you.
To your left there was a car, and a dead soldier hanging out of it. Using your quick thinking you ran to them, and then switched back your form to your human side.
"Fuck fuck fuck fuck" you whispered, trying to keep your eyes everywhere all at once. You stripped the dead soldier and quickly put on their uniform. It was a bit tight, and uncomfortable, but it was necessary if you wanted to get where you were headed. You grabbed the guns even though you didn't know how to use them, and the knives. You then hid the body under the car, and then walked towards the building pretending you didn't have to rush for anything. From the corner of your eye you saw the soldiers looking out the window for you, but you slipped back into the building and took in a long sniff. You could smell Fury's trail and you started following it. The acrid scent of gunpowder and blood was strong within the walls of the fortress you were in.
The stronger scent of the prisoners hit your senses, and you gave in. They were your primary mission, and besides, how hard can a gun be anyways? You got to a door and sniffed audibly, confirming your suspicions. You were in the right place. You walked in like you had been there a hundred times only to see six hydra agents suddenly pull a gun on you.
"Shield operatives are on their way here" you lied. You looked around at the cages and a few of the dull eyes of the captives went alight with hope.
"You're not supposed to be here" one of the hydra agents remarked.
"Would you rather I guarded outside the door?" you asked, keeping your tone snarky.
"State your rank and team" one of the other agents said in a clipped voice.
"Well, fuck" you growled and just pointed the gun and shot in their direction, missing them by a long shot. You dropped the gun and shifted to your wolf form, feeling a few bullets graze your skin and warm blood started to trickle out. You howled loudly, wanting the entire building to hear you and your fury. You leapt at the first agent and took them out by the throat. Another agent grabbed you from behind, digging their fingers into your wounds and you tried to fight against them. You were suddenly airborne and you hit one of the jail cells and your vision doubled. You tried to get to your feet, but you didn't have the ability yet. You were discombobulated and unable to think of a cohesive sentence. You felt yourself picked up, and tossed into a jail cell with another captive. They closed the door quickly with a laugh, and you whined.
"You tried," the captive agent in the same cell that was next to you said softly. You didn't know what else to do. Your head was ringing, but you needed Fury to find you. There was no way you were becoming another Hydra experiment all over again. You tipped back your head and you howled. Your captors started threatening you, but you refused to stop. You did it as loud as you could.

"I'll tranq you" one of the Hydra agents threatened. You barked at him and scurried to the back of the cell and continued to let out your howls. You heard a few explosions outside the door, and suddenly your howls were the last of your captor's worries. You let out loud barks and pranced in the cell before letting out another loud howl. The door exploded inwards and both Tony and Fury came in the door, with the Shield team, Bucky and Steve behind them.
"There's four hydra agents left" your cellmate called out and Bucky gave the briefest of nods before he took out his gun.
"No, we want them for questioning" Fury told Bucky who growled. Steve threw his shield and it bounced off each agent and the cells before coming back to him. Bucky ran to one of the agents and took the keys off of them and started trying to open your cell. You barked excitedly, wagging your tail so much that your back legs almost floundered.
"Doll, you're bleeding" Bucky said with a frown on his face as he got the cell opened. You launched yourself out of the cell at him and he caught you and fell backwards with the force of it. You licked him on the face while your cellmate waited patiently to be allowed out. Bucky kissed your muzzle and held you for a moment before he handed the keys to Steve to let everyone else out.
"No more missions" Tony murmured to Fury who looked pained at the state you were in.

"Not until she's field ready" Fury nodded.
"That will be her choice," Steve said quickly.

"We wouldn't have found them without her," Fury said, gesturing to you. You yipped with the praise and Bucky wrapped his arms around you even tighter.
"We have a regeneration machine back at the compound, Shields medical bay is going to be at full capacity. Are you ready for the team to know what you are? They are waiting for you" Tony asked you point blank. You thought about it for a moment before giving a small nod to your head. You knew they wouldn't judge you at least. "Good, I'll have Wanda bring your things home, she will meet us there. She's been waiting at Shield headquarters since you left, except to go feed the cats" he kept you appraised. You let out a bark, and groaned as Bucky started picking you up. You could feel the bullet burns now that the adrenaline had worn off, and there were some regrets.
