Fury brought you back to your old private quarters to have a quick shower. Nothing had changed, and it still had a few of your old things in the room. He explained he wanted to keep it for you in case you ever came back. Steve and Tony were waiting in Fury's office for you. You knew you had to do your own report now, since you were technically in the field. Once you were clean, you put your hair up in a bun, and put on your clothes that you came to Shield in. You padded your way up to Fury's office with him leading you. Once you were there Steve and Tony looked relieved. You grabbed your purse and put on your heels again, and looked in one of the mirrors to put on some lip gloss.
"Nobody will know the difference," Steve said encouragingly. You went to take a step towards the chairs and almost fell over, still not feeling right from the blood loss. It had been a struggle since you had gotten out of the regeneration machine. Steve got up quickly and swept you off of your feet and held you close.
"Maybe we should get her to stay in her wolf form, and bring her back to her room at the compound. She can rest and come in late tomorrow" Tony suggested.
"I'm not made of glass" you growled.
"No, you were shot in the field. Your body is going to take a few days to feel better" Fury said.
"I think Tony is right. From what we've read on werewolves, you heal faster in wolf form" Steve seemed to agree with Tony. You huffed softly, but knew they were right.
"I don't know that for sure," you said in a soft whisper.
"All the data says it's facts" Tony told you.
"If Bucky sees you going into your apartment, he's going to come visit. You haven't messaged him back all day" Steve warned you.
"What are we going to tell him?" you asked worriedly.
"You were working for the day for me, doing paperwork. They flew you home late, and you were too tired to talk" Fury suggested.
"Okay, but no dog jokes" you said, and Steve put you back down on your feet. "And I need to eat, so bring in some food from the cafeteria when you bring me in. We will just tell people I'm pet sitting" you kicked off your shoes. You fished your keys out of your purse and handed them to Steve. Tony grabbed them out of his hand and nodded to you. You took off your shoes and put them neatly to the side with your purse and went into the bathroom to get undressed again. You changed forms and gave a bark. Fury opened the door and grabbed your clothes and put them with your purse and shoes.
"Tony is grabbing your car and putting it in the jet," Steve said, looking you in the eyes. His eyes traveled over your wolf figure, seeming to almost be fascinated. You felt another dizzy spell and whined before laying down on your belly. "You look like a regular wolf" Steve seemed in awe.
"She doesn't usually lay down like that" Fury said, coming over to you. You panted and laid on your side, waiting for the dizzy spell to go away.
"I've got her, if you can bring her things for me?" Steve asked as he got down and picked you up. You groaned as the world seemed to be moving double time, and let out a soft bark. "I've got you," he said soothingly. Fury grabbed your personal belongings and the two of them made their way outside to the jet. Tony drove the little red car into the jet and Steve set you down. You barked at him and he strapped you in. Fury dropped off your things and put them inside of your car and thanked you again before he backed out of the jet.
Getting back to the compound Steve carried you up to your apartment and closed all your curtains. Tony went and parked your car and brought your belongings up while you nestled into the couch with Melody purring. Steve left for a few minutes and came back with a few sandwiches and unwrapped them for you. You jumped off the couch long enough to eat them then trotted to your bedroom to lay on the bed.
"Don't forget, your orders are to stay in your wolf form for the night" Steve reminded you. You whined but laid down. They both left and closed your door behind them, and Melody got up and curled in with you.
"Doll?" Bucky said, coming into the office the next morning. You were still feeling out of sorts, but you had forced yourself to come into work. You didn't dress up like you normally would, however just went with a pair of black capri's and a red blouse. You didn't remind Steve or Tony to charge your phone last night, so it was dead when you got up. You had it plugged in, waiting for it to get to a hundred before you turned it back on again.
"Good morning Bucky!" you quickly greeted him. He looked relieved.
"Did you get my messages?" he asked, coming more into the office.
"No, my phone died while I was working yesterday, and I'm just charging it up now" you gestured to the device plugged in beside you.
"Oh. I was worried" he said, bringing over a chair to be next to you. You wolf was practically singing inside of you at how close he was. "You closed your curtains, I couldn't see when you got home," he said softly.
"I'll open them tonight, as long as I'm decent" you flushed.
"We also have our date tonight" he reminded you and you broke out into a smile.
"A very important date" you quickly added.
"Our reservations got pushed to seven though" he said with a frown.
"That's okay, it gives me more time to get ready" you reached out and touched his right hand. He linked your fingers together and with his left hand he touched the side of your face. You leaned into his vibranium hand, and he gave a soft smile.
"You make it so hard, I missed you so much yesterday" he whispered.
"I missed you too," you whispered back. "It's crazy, but it's true" you licked your lips. His gaze went to your lips and he licked his own.
"So what are you working on?" he asked, his eyes still trained on your lips.
"Mission reports" you said breathlessly.
"Mine?" he whispered, leaning in a little more and your wolf was singing even louder.
"You didn't give it to me yet" you smiled.
"Good morning!" Steve came into the room and Bucky backed away with a grimace. "Y/N, you were supposed to start late today" he said, sounding disappointed.
"I still have some reports and other stuff to work on. Just because I had a late night doesn't mean I can slack off" you said quickly.
"The last thing I would call you is a slacker" Steve shook his head. "Bucky, did you finish your written report?" Steve asked his best friend.
"Almost" Bucky nodded.
"Okay, let's focus on that today. I have to do mine too" Steve looked at him pointedly and Bucky nodded before getting up. He headed into his office, but left the door open. Steve knocked on your desk and nodded to his office. You stood up too quickly and felt light headed. You steaded yourself and Steve put his hand in the small of your back and led you into his office. He closed the door and you took a seat in the visitors chair. "You don't have to be here today" Steve said, trying to keep his voice hushed.
"I need to be. This is my job, remember?" you reminded him.
"Even for the people that go in the field regularly, if they get shot they take a few days off. Go home, rest. Stay in your wolf form for a bit" Steve whispered.
"You need me here" you shook your head.
"I need you to feel a hundred percent before you come into the office. Go, take the weekend off. Take your time to get ready for your date with Bucky" he kept his voice hushed. "We can work on all the reports on Monday," he pointed at the door, before adding. "It's paid leave, just take it,'' he implored.
"What are you going to say to Bucky?" you asked in a hushed whisper.
"That we have to get our reports done, and you deserve a break. It's not a lie" Steve advised.
"Alright, I guess I'll go home" you nodded, and went to stand up but you got light headed again, and fell back into the seat.
"I'll take you down to the medical bay" Steve stood up and went to pick you up.
"No, I'm fine. I'll go back to my apartment" you argued.
"I'll carry you" Steve picked you up without another word.
"I can walk," you said faintly, embarrassed at the situation. Steve opened the door and walked out and Bucky looked out and he was immediately concerned. He stood up and came out and took you from Steve's arms.
"What's wrong?" Bucky demanded.
"I just got light headed" you didn't lie.
"Let me take you to med bay" Bucky seemed determined.
"No, I just want to go home" you huffed. "I'll be okay for our date tonight if I just get some rest" you said.
"Medical bay first, doll" Bucky disagreed. He carried you out, not taking no for an answer. You just wrapped your arms around him while your wolf howled happily inside your mind. He carried you down the stairs and you saw a few curious glances from some of the people you knew to be a part of the Avengers team. Tony even came out of his office and started following Bucky towards the medical bay.
"What's going on?" Tony asked.
"She's light headed" Bucky said as he opened the automatic doors and strolled in. Tony was close behind him.
"I'll take it from here" Tony said, knowing you didn't want your secret out.
"I can't just leave her Tony," Bucky argued.
"I'll text you once she's out" Tony said as Bucky set you down on a table.
"Oh! Hello again" Doctor Cho came out of her office.
"Again?" Bucky echoed, and looked at you for answers.
"She gets light headed sometimes, no big deal" Tony instantly lied. He had sent Doctor Cho to you at Shield yesterday for the surgery, and she knew about your condition.
"You're supposed to be at home resting" Doctor Cho sassed you.
"I can't, I have a very important date tonight" you said with a brilliant smile, and Bucky puffed out his chest proudly.
"Let me check your blood pressure" she sighed and did just that, putting the cuff on your arm. She frowned, and then checked your pulse. Tony seemed to be almost on the edge of his seat, not wanting to break your confidence.
"Is she okay?" Bucky asked anxiously.
"She needs some rest for a couple of days. Her blood pressure is a bit low" she frowned.
"I'll take her home. Does she need to take any medication?" Bucky automatically asked. You shared a look with Doctor Cho and she put her hand on your arm and gave a soft smile.
"Let me grab it" she went into the back and came back with an antibiotic. She wrote a note and put it in a white paper bag with the pills and handed it to you. "Take as prescribed" she said, squeezing your hand.
"Alright, I'll take her back to her place" Bucky said, picking you up off the table.
"Bucky, I didn't grab my purse or my phone" you said softly.
"Will you wait here if I run upstairs and grab it?" he asked, half expectantly.
"Yes, I promise" you nodded. He quickly left and you let out a sigh of relief. As soon as you were confident he couldn't hear you, you looked at Doctor Cho and gave a grateful smile. "Thank you, I suppose it's you that saved me yesterday" you said.
"Fury doesn't usually call me in a panic" she gave a kind smile. "You're not my first werewolf though" she said softly.
"There's more like me?" you asked hopefully.
"They normally live in packs, but yes" she nodded.
"Would I be able to meet one, one day?" you asked quickly.
"Maybe. If I see them again, I'll put some feelers out for you" she assured you. "Now, to more important matters. This is an antibiotic, and you should take it with food three times a day for seven days. I meant to put you on this yesterday as a preventative, but you left too quickly" she said.
"I'll take it" you promised.
"Are you going to be okay with Bucky taking you home?" Tony asked, a little worriedly.
"I'll be fine, he won't hurt me" you assured him.
"I know he won't," Tony sighed. "Don't forget to stay in your other form when you can" he said and you nodded. The three of you held quiet conversation before Bucky came back in and proudly handed you your purse, and cell phone. You put the white paper bag with your antibiotics in your purse along with your phone. Bucky wrapped his arms around you and picked you up again and carried you out. You wrapped your arms around him and snuggled close to him.
"You okay, doll?" Bucky asked you as he took the long way back to your apartment.
"Of course. I have you right here with me, and I'm just going to go and get some sleep" you nuzzled into his neck. He groaned softly, and placed a soft kiss on top of your head and you couldn't help but smile and nuzzle in even more.
"You're going to drive me crazy," he said with a sigh. "Now about the date, does your place sound okay?" he asked.
"My place?" you echoed.
"Just say yes" he chuckled.
"Okay" you nodded and he grinned victoriously.
