Butterfly (Bucky x Reader)

A good run

While the boys ate their cereal, Bucky finished the cake and gave it to you to munch on. You shared a slice with each of them, but you ate the rest of the cake happily, humming to yourself. Loki led you back to the couch in the living room after, white Sam and Steve did the dishes, and Bucky was busy with your phone and his phone.
"Got it!" Bucky came over and handed you back your phone.
"Got what?" you asked him.
"We are collaborating on your wedding board on Pinterest" he grinned happily. "You've got some fantastic ideas on there" he complimented you.
"What kind of wedding is it going to be?" Steve asked.
"Outdoor wedding, but we can also make the indoors seem like it's outdoors. Tony's got the space to do it in" Bucky was going through and adding to your now shared pinterest page.

"We don't need to make such a fuss" you flushed.
"Of course we do! It's your big day" Bucky shook his head.
"Our big day" you corrected him.
"You've been adding to this since Pinterest started, let me spoil you a little, doll," Bucky said coming towards you. He leaned down and gave you a soft kiss on the forehead. You preened at the attention and laid back down on the couch while Bucky stayed in the kitchen. He went to the bedroom for a few minutes and then came back out.
"Where did you go?" you asked him through the bond.
"I secured our wedding planner, and she's willing to work with us," he replied in kind.
"I want you here" you pouted and Bucky came over and sat under your head. He played in your hair as you slowly drifted off to sleep.

When you woke up again, you were hungry but saw Loki was cooking in the kitchen. Bucky was still sitting under your head while talking quietly to Steve and Sam. Up on the TV screen there was footage from cameras all over the house from outside. You knew they were taking your safety to heart.
"Something smells good" you hummed in delight.
"You smell good" Bucky retorted quickly and you grinned at him and wiggled your eyebrows at him and giggled.
"I'm making you some dill salmon with butter, these instant mashed potatoes that were purchased, and we have a few vegetable platters for vegetables. If you eat it all, I'll also add in the chocolate pudding I made with whipped cream," Loki turned to look at you.
"I'm good for it" you vowed. The pudding sounded good right about now. You went to get up to go help in the kitchen when Bucky pulled you back down by your hair at the base of your skull. "I was going to go help" you murmured to him.
"No, you're staying right here" Bucky shook his head. Steve and Sam both got up and headed into the kitchen to help set the table. You waited patiently while reading a book on your Kindle app on your phone. Once you got the all clear you headed to the table and sat down while Loki sat a plate in front of you with flourish. You clapped your hands and did a happy food dance and he chuckled before he went to get everyone else's plates. You waited until everyone took their first bite, and you took yours. It was delicious and right to your taste. You finished before Loki, but everyone else looked quite pleased. Bucky went in and got everyone's dessert and brought it back to the table and you all enjoyed that as well. You went to do dishes and Bucky took over washing, letting you dry and left you to find out where everything belonged quickly.
"Okay, I need a walk" you said once you were done.
"I have a treadmill downstairs, you can use that" Bucky offered.
"But, I wanted to go outside," you pouted.
"For now, stay inside. You can go on the treadmill for twenty minutes and then we can hit the hot tub," he said.
"Fine" you huffed a little and went to the basement. You turned your music on loud and started walking. You weren't there long when Sam, Steve, Bucky, and Loki came downstairs. On the large TV in front of the treadmills the screen opened to the cameras outside again. You knew they were all down there for a work out and to keep an eye on you. They weren't even complaining about the music, which you were grateful for. You walked well over twenty minutes, and waited until it felt like your legs were getting sore. You turned off the treadmill and wordlessly went back upstairs and changed into your swimsuit.
"I wanted to go for a run," Lily said inside your head.
"So did I" you sighed. "You've been quiet," you added.
"I'm enjoying the bond with our mate," she said. "Why are you upset?" she asked.
"I just feel like every time I start to feel safe, I'm in danger again. Just once, I'd like to feel free to be me. Go outside and go for a run and I will not be some kind of damsel in distress" you told her. "I feel like I'm always being watched, and don't get me wrong, it's nice to be protected, but I need to have some alone time too" you told her.
"I can feel that in our bond" she sighed inside your head. "Why don't we go for a run anyways?" she asked softly. "Tonight, while they sleep. We will go and howl at the moon and get a lay of the land."

"That's actually a great idea," you smiled.

"I heard that" Bucky came into the room, "You're not going for a run without me" he said.

"You don't have your prosthetic paw yet. You may be a bit off balance for a run." you pointed out.

"So I'll go on two feet, and you can go on four" he shrugged, snagging you and taking you into his arms. "I know you want to be alone, but I need to be around you. It's about my own needs right now. I need you like the air I breathe. You are my moon at night, and my sunlight during the day. You are the rarest flower in the world, and you bloomed for me. So please be patient with me as I get used to these heightened emotions I have for you right now," he said, seeming so vulnerable for a moment.
"Okay, we can try it" you gave in easily. "Now, about that hot tub..." you drifted off.
"Let me put on my swimming trunks" Bucky took off his sweaty clothes and stood naked for a moment in front of you and you wanted to purr in delight. He put on his swimming trunks and looked at you with a smirk on his face.
"I like you better naked" you said, and winked at him before leading the way out. Bucky stopped only to grab two towels before you headed to the hot tub.

The rest of your day was relaxing. You made out in the hot tub with Bucky before heading for a quick shower and you made spaghetti with meat balls and garlic bread for supper. Alpine and Melody were lapping up the extra affection since there were more people in the house with them now. Sam announced he would be making supper tomorrow, while Steve stated that he was making a healthier breakfast for everyone. You had groaned at the idea, but you knew he had your well being at heart. Bucky made it clear that he was willing to fight someone to make lunch. You suggested making a schedule as to who was making what meal for the rest of the week, knowing you would likely have to fight them on it.
One of your favorite things about the day is you got to lounge in Bucky's lap for the most part, either seated on it, or just with your head on his lap. He didn't seem to mind one bit which pleased you. The boys played some video games while you listened to an audio book instead to drown out the noise.
After supper Bucky announced the two of you were going for a walk, and didn't explain himself about it. You raced to the bedroom to change your form to your wolf and Bucky praised you at how beautiful you were. Bucky undressed and changed to his werewolf form.
"You're not so bad yourself," you purred to him inside your head.
"Until I get used to the paw with long nails, I think I'll stick to using my left arm for now" Bucky replied through the bond. Bucky led the way out and used his left hand to open the doors for both of you, always waiting for you to leave first. No one said anything as you both went outside. Bucky closed the door behind him and you did a stretch in your wolf form.

Bucky barked at you, and you took off into the woods and he gave chase. The snow was easily giving away what direction you had headed in. His heavy footfalls followed you as you trampled through the snow.

"You're not getting away that easy" Bucky laughed in the bond.
"Try and catch me, James" you purred right back in kind. You were able to go under old logs etc. while Bucky had to scramble or leap over them. You found a lake and ran around it, skirting the ice on top. It looked like it was strong enough to handle the two of you or more, but you didn't want to chance it. Bucky barked a laugh in your head and you joined him in laughter.

You felt a slight pull on your tail and a bark, and you immediately put more purchase into the ground with your paws. You started to slip on some black ice and you skidded towards the lake with your legs flailing. Bucky pulled on you and picked you up easily and he stood to the side. You were back near the cabin, and you were panting.

"Did I tell you that watching you run in the moonlight is magical?" Bucky asked you, and you licked his cheek.
"You've got branches in your fur" you giggled.
"So do you, looks like we need a shower" he wiggled his eyebrows.
"I think we should get much dirtier before we take a shower" you said, and let out an excited yip.

"I know the best way to get good and dirty" he growled playfully. "I was thinking of Ben and Jerry's double chocolate brownie ice cream on your chest and licking it off" you hummed.

"Only if I get to do it to you too" he chuckled. "Good, then it's agreed. Let's get back in there" you squirmed in his hold. He held you steadily and headed back into the cabin.
