Interrupted

"The change looks painful" Bucky said as you were finishing lunch.
"It used to be," you admitted. "Sometimes if I wait too long, it can be as well. Since I've been taking on both forms more often lately, although most of the time it's in my room, it's like holding your breath for a minute. There's not much to it" you shrugged.
"So, if you bite me, does that change me?" he asked curiously.
"As far as I know, I don't have the venom to do that" you shook your head.

"Okay, so tell me about the other tattoos," he grinned.
"You weren't supposed to see those," you blushed.
"Let's start with the little pink heart with the colon in it, on your right hip above your butt cheek" he pressed.
"It's a symbol of hope and perseverance. I went through a lot mentally after Fury saved me, and my mind went down a very dark path. Fury helped me by getting me into therapy and with a psychiatrist. I got it as a reminder that life goes on" you spoke softly. "The dragonfly on the back of my shoulder means good luck, and reminds me to live life to the fullest" you explained the other one.
"They are beautiful" he smiled, and went and sat behind you and he kissed the back of your shoulder where the dragonfly lay. You gave a delightful shiver in response, and he just wrapped his arms around you. "I'd kiss them all, but I'll wait until we are in private" he murmured.
"Are we no longer alone?" you asked, sniffing at the air.
"We are alone, but I can't promise I'll be able to just stop at them" he chuckled.
"That's fair," you giggled. You heard a phone going off and Bucky groaned before he pulled it out of his back pocket. He looked over your shoulder as he opened the text in front of you and it was from Steve. "Emergency mission, come back to base?" you read it out loud.
"Fuck" he growled.
"It's okay, this is your livelihood, we should pack up quickly" you tried to squirm out of his hold.
"When I get back, can I still come to your place?" he asked softly, looking a little worried. You took your keys out of your pocket and took off the spare key to your apartment and handed it to him.
"You can let yourself in anytime. I'll keep Alpine until you get back" you promised.
"Thank you, this means the world to me," he said honestly. He took out his keys and took off a spare key to his room and handed it to you. "You can go to my room anytime too, even if you just want to snoop around" he smirked. You both added the keys to your keychains and hurriedly cleaned up as fast as you could. You both put on your helmets and went back to Compound B for him to drop you off. He gave you a leisurely kiss even though his phone was going off again, and you told him you would see him as soon as he got back. You brought your bag back up to your room and closed the door feeling a little sad that he had to leave so quickly.

"What the hell, punk?" Bucky demanded as soon as he saw Steve. He had changed into his tactical uniform already and stashed everything away in his room as soon as he had gotten back.
"Sorry Bucky, I know you were with your girl" Steve looked like he honestly felt bad. "Shield needs our help, and it's all hands on deck. Even Clint and Scott had to come back early. We called them in before we called you in" he said. "I tried to give you as much time as possible with Y/N," he added softly.
"I appreciate that" Bucky whispered, thinking about the stolen moments out in the woods. "What's the mission?" he asked.
"One of their buildings is under attack, and their agents are trying to hold out but it's not looking good. We need to get there as fast as possible" Steve said. The pair of them went to the artillery room and started getting all the weapons they would need. Bucky made sure to get extra knives, his sniper rifle, and a few other guns he might need. He had always excelled with both close hand, and long distance. One of the perks of being in the army, and not to mention an assassin for so long.
They headed out to the jet and when they got in, the team was already there looking at the information on the Shield base they needed to get into and rescue. Bruce was even on the jet, looking a little uncomfortable, but Nat was cuddled into his side and humming softly to him.
"So how did the second honeymoon go?" Bucky asked as he sat down and strapped in.
"Paris was wonderful, my Bruce took me to see all the sights. How are things with Y/N?" she asked with a smirk.
"Really good," Bucky said with a slight flush on his cheeks. "Alpine is staying with her until we get back," he added a little shyly.
"Really?!" Steve seemed surprised.
"Man, they are getting pretty serious," Sam commented.
"She's the one, she just doesn't know it yet" Bucky said proudly.
"Don't scare her off," Steve warned him.
"I'm being mostly a gentleman" Bucky rolled his eyes and Steve's eyes cut to him when he said "mostly".
"Alright kids, here's the plan" Tony waited for Clint to close up the back of the jet and looked around and did a mental headcount. "We are going to hit the ground running, they've been under attack for the last five hours and we don't know what state the base is in. It's a research facility for Shield, and they've been working on getting us some answers to the enhanced individuals that we've rescued. We need to get in and grab the data, and all the agents out alive. We also need to wipe out the base," Tony said.
"I finally had a day off and Hydra had to ruin it" Rhody groaned.
"We were at the farmer's market," Vision said softly. "Wanda was not happy about being left behind."
"You can go again tomorrow if we clear everything up," Tony promised. "It's for the safety of the babies she stays behind," he added.
The team talked amongst themselves as the jet took to the skies, making small talk to avoid talking about the upcoming mission. They had their orders, and would follow them. They flew for just over an hour when Clint stopped the jet and hovered it in the air just above the base that was heavily under attack. Tony, Vision, Sam and Bruce all jumped out of the back, and Bruce changed to the Hulk in midair. Clint went in for a landing and the rest of the team rushed out.
"Don't do anything stupid" Steve warned Bucky.
"How can I, when you are taking all the stupid with you" Bucky chuckled, and cocked his gun. "I got my dame to get home to" he grinned.

You spent the rest of your weekend resting with the two cats in your suite, and you made sure they got both equal portions of wet food and dry food. Alpine and Melody would curl up in your bedroom with you at night and purred until you would fall asleep.
Monday morning came, and there was no news from the team. You dressed in a black pencil skirt, white button up and a powder blue blazer before giving them both a kiss. You put on your kitten heels and headed out for breakfast with your phone and your laptop secured in your satchel. You had a quick meal, and headed out to your car only to see Wanda standing beside it waiting.
"Don't be surprised, I'm in most people's heads. I know you are going to Shield today, and someone has to make sure no shady business happens" Wanda said, wearing a red business suit and white button up. You could see the tell tale baby bump on her stomach protruding.
"What if it's a mission?" you asked her.
"Then I'll wait for you to get back," she shrugged. "But I'm making sure you are safe" she opened the passenger side door as soon as you unlocked the car. You got in the drivers side, accepting the fact that Wanda was coming with you, and buckled up. "So when do we get to girl talk?" she asked as soon as you started the car and you couldn't help but laugh.
"After we find out what Fury needs. I'm worried" you admitted.
"I know. So is Steve, Tony and Bucky" she shrugged. "I texted Tony but he hasn't answered, so I figure he's fine with me joining you."
"What do you think it is?" you asked, biting your bottom lip as you drove.
"No idea yet. I'll know as soon as we see him. I won't let him hide anything from you" she assured you.
"So you know I'm a werewolf?" you asked her out of the blue.
"Yes, but it doesn't change anything. You're still human, most of the time" she shrugged. "I can feel your wolf inside your head. She's scared"
"So am I," you sighed. "I can't say no to him, after everything he's done for me" you shook your head.
"He knows that" she seemed so confident. "He won't be expecting me," she added slyly.
"I didn't expect you" you giggled.
You made small talk on your way to Shield, but your stomach was in knots. You were worried this would be another mission, and with Wanda at your side you had a feeling you were right. Something in your gut was telling you that you were right.
You got your regular parking spot that was never given to anyone else and both you and Wanda got out of the car. She linked arms with you as the two of you went inside and you both signed in before heading up to Fury's office. You used your clearance since you weren't sure if Wanda had clearance as well.
"Well look what the wolf dragged in" Nick grinned when you came in. "Wanda, so nice to see you" he greeted her. "How are two of my favorite girls?" he asked.
"It's a mission" Wanda said, with a pained look on her face.
"You need to hear me out first, before you say no" he said, putting his hands up.
"I got shot last time" you murmured.
"I had a bullet proof vest made for you, and we are going in with an entire team of agents. They know they just need to protect you and follow your lead" Nick said.
"What happened?" you asked, kicking off your shoes and Wanda took a step away as you went to Nick's wall and saw the base details were already up and ready to go.
"Hostages again. We tried raiding this base a few times, but we haven't gotten very far. It's a fortress, but you are small enough in your wolf form you can get past them" he said. "I can't send anyone I don't trust," he added softly.
"Those poor agents, this is one of their testing facilities" Wanda looked at it, and had her hand on her chest.
"Are you coming?" you asked Nick.
"I wouldn't let you go without me," he nodded.
"Good. I want Wanda taken care of while we are out there. I also need you to put the vest on me, and make sure it won't hinder my mobility" you warned him.
"Deal" he nodded. "You also get hazard pay for this" he mentioned.
"Yeah, I saw the last hazard pay" you sighed. "The money helps, but it's not why I'm doing this," you admitted.
"He knows," Wanda said softly. You took out your phone and texted Bucky, Steve, and Tony and told them you were going on a mission for Shield again. You handed your personal items to Wanda and headed into the bathroom to change. You hoped that this was going to be a quick in and out, but you had a feeling it wouldn't be.
