Following through with his promise, Jeno stopped by the corner store before he arrived at Jaemin’s apartment with his eyes curled up to represent the smile that the younger wouldn’t be able to see due to the mask he was wearing.
There was a jolt of electricity that passed through his veins when he saw the bright smile displayed on Jaemin’s face once he opened the door. In his arms, he carried Luna, the kitten meowing a quiet ‘Hello’ to Jeno whose fingers immediately reached out to brush through the fur on her head.
“Jeno’s here!” He called back into the apartment, his waist keeping the door open long enough for Jeno to slip through. Like clock-work, the other two cats sped around the corner, their eyes sparkling as they came to rest against his ankles. Despite the bag in his hand, Jeno still managed to bend down low enough to scoop both of them up in his arms.
They immediately began purring in his hold, Luke snuggling against his chest while Lucy rested her paws against his torso and stared up at him with those dazzling blue eyes. Jeno couldn't help but chuckle, wallowing in their warmth as he gently tickled their chins with his middle finger.
“You stopped by the convenience store on your way?” Jaemin wondered, gesturing with his chin towards the plastic bag in Jeno’s other hand.
“Oh!” the elder uttered, his cheeks growing a little hot. “As requested, I bought you some snacks that I figured we might have later?”
“After dinner?” Jaemin wondered, pressing a kiss to the top of Luna's head before he gently let her back down.
Jeno simply nodded his head, shyly handing over the plastic bag to Jaemin's waiting fingers. The younger took a curious peek, his lips curling upwards as he snuck a quick glance at Jeno, who had allowed the kittens to take his attention.
“You shouldn't have gone to all this trouble.”
“It was the one thing you asked for in return,” Jeno waves the comment off with his free hand, though it certainly wouldn't remain vacant for too long. “I wasn't sure what you'd be in the mood for, so I just got all of your favourites.”
“I appreciate that, Jeno, thank you.”
Jaemin felt his heart swell in his chest when he noticed his best friend lean down to scoop up the lonesome cat pawing at his ankles. She immediately found her spot between her siblings and nestled down in his hold, Jaemin had never seen them so sated. It really surprised him.
“Anything I can do to help out?” Jeno wondered, gesturing with his chin to the kitchen.
Out of reflex, Jaemin shook his head, too absorbed in the sight in front of him to say anything. He couldn't allow the moment to pass, so without further prompting, he withdrew his phone from his jean pocket and swiped open the camera. No filter was necessary as he stepped forward and grinned at the view on the screen.
Jeno's buff arms stretched around the three kittens, holding them securely to his chest. His veins were pruding so elegantly against their pristine white fur, the silver of his Dreamie ring sparkling in the lights above them. Jaemin immediately went to post it on his Instagram, captioning it quite simply with 🐱🐱🐱🐶.
He made sure to keep his notification bell off since he knew the fans would go crazy, which would then result in their group chat blowing up with thousands of suggestive eye emojis from Chenle and hundreds of question marks from Jisung.
What Jaemin hadn't counted for was the fact that Jeno would have his notifications on. Jaemin had made a staple not to tag Jeno in his image since he didn't want to be too on the nose, he much rather the fans bombard his comments with conspiracy theories and the occasional exclamation of I can't breathe!!!
