Jaemin loves recalling how it happened, one day he just happened to be by the front door as Jeno came back from one of his schedules. Perhaps it was when he was filming for 'The Show', or maybe it was when he was teaching Mark the new Dream choreography. It wasn't particularly important for the story.
The door had opened so carefully that night, Jaemin stepping out of the way so that he wouldn't surprise whoever was trying to get into the dormitory so late at night.
He was both surprised and relieved to see Jeno slip through the gap, the boy gently pushing the door back into its spot before allowing himself to rest against it. A sigh of content escaped his lips, eyes closed to appreciate the warmth that came with being back home.
"You look exhausted." Jaemin whispered, creeping over the floorboards to get to his best friend.
Jeno opened his sleepy eyes, his vision hooded and his lips curled upwards at the sight of Jaemin coming towards him. "What are you still doing up? I thought you would be in bed by now."
"I had some laundry to do," the boy explained, shrugging his shoulders as he got to work helping his best friend out of his coat. "why are you only getting back now?"
"It's not important," Jeno admitted, voice riddled with exhaustion. "I'm just really tired and want my bed."
"Then stop being so difficult and let me help you with your jacket!" Jaemin hissed, though there wasn't any venom in his tone.
Jeno's lips curled higher, his crescent eyes deepening. Jaemin wondered if his friend could even see him right now, considering how limited his sight must be because of his smile.
"You always say that you don't care about things but you care about us so much," Jeno giggled, allowing Jaemin the chance to slip both of his toned arms from his jacket sleeves. "I don't say it enough but I really appreciate you taking care of me Jaem."
"I'm merely returning the favour." The boy declared, shrugging off the praise though the pink dust on his cheeks didn't go unnoticed.
Jeno scoffed, making him freeze in his attempt to hang up the elder's jacket. "You're such a tsundere."
The smile sort of just pulled itself onto Jaemin's lips after that, eyes watching as his best friend stumbled back down the hallway. Trying -and failing- to get to the kitchen without causing any noise. Thankfully it shouldn't have been enough to wake any of the slumbering members hidden away in their bedrooms.
Jaemin smiled to himself as he followed after his tired best friend, though many would assume Jeno was drunk right now. Jaemin knew better. The only thing his best friend was drunk on right now, was his lack of much needed sleep.
Jeno managed to get to the kitchen counter before his legs ultimately gave up on him, forcing him to take a seat on the stool when all he really wanted to do was get himself something to drink. He groaned quietly to himself, head hitting the counter from frustration. Jaemin quietly giggled, muffling his titters behind his hand.
Instead he got to work finding something refreshing to serve his tired friend, providing him his preferred coca-cola drink with ice and a straw. He placed it onto a counter and slid it across the counter to his still mumbling friend.
"There you go, you big baby." He chuckled, watching as Jeno's head tilted upwards.
Those crescent moon eyes sparkled in the glow of the kitchen light once he finally noticed the drink presented before him. He immediately sat up straight, his thin fingers wrapping around the glass and lifted it just enough until his lips found the curve of the straw.
Jaemin watched with a small smile of his own as Jeno drank it all down, deciding to leave the ice to melt, which wasn't something he did very often. It just proved how tired the poor man was. Jeno's eyes quickly found Jaemin's from across the counter, a brow rising at his action.
