Chenle spends the entire night researching into this 'Nomin' fan-name thing that the fans keep mentioning, he definitely didn't know that it would lead to something like this?!
After having been overwhelmed by their world-tour and the preparation of their new album, it became evident that the seven members needed some time to unwind and relax. They all had different systems put in place to help them get over such an exhausting period. For example, Chenle found particular interest in camping out in the Dreamie dormitory, annoying his members and scrolling through his social media feeds.
He found himself alone in the living room one evening casually rewatching one of their more popular Youtube series -7illin in the DREAM. The series was quite popular when it was released as the fans were given the unique opportunity to see their idols in a more intimate setting off stage. He had often watched the show while scrolling through the comment section, his excitement building when he realised that new comments had made their way to the platform since his last streaming of the show.
This time a particular comment had sparked his interest. It wasn't long by any means, and it certainly shouldn't have caught Chenle's eye mid-scroll. But for some unknown reason the singer couldn't help but find his eyes locked on the simple comment. A mere timestamp and a few red hearts.
It didn't make any sense. Most of the comment section had comments almost exactly like this one, so why was this particular comment standing out like a beacon in comparison to the rest?
Curious, Chenle turned his attention back to the video. His pointer finger hovering over the red line as he moved it to a few seconds before the mentioned timestamp. He recognized the clip as it played, a small 'Most Replayed' notification appearing above the red line. The seven of them had just sat down to eat, Jeno and Mark announcing that they had already picked the members who were to go shopping for their next meal. Chenle watched as Haechan instantly turned to Jaemin who hadn't paid any attention to what was happening around him.
A chuckle escaped his lips just as his phone's speaker picked up the collective laugh of the boys in the video. It was an hilarious segment, one that Chenle was delighted to see had made it into the final video. What he couldn't understand was why were the fans so excited about that particular part, and why had it been the most replayed section of the video? Hoping to find more answers, he returned to the comment section.
Clicking on the thread beneath the original comment, Chenle was exposed to (possibly) the biggest ship war he had ever seen. Within this smaller comment section, Chenle saw first hand the level of dedication and obsession their fans had in regards to these 'Top 2' Dreamie Ships. He would later find a poll on Twitter that ended in a tie. Having already heard about Markhyuck from his 127 hyungs, Chenle bypassed their comments and found himself getting interested in this Nomin fiasco.
What started as baseless scrolling, soon grew into extensive research. Chenle had enlisted the help of his tablet after his phone unceremoniously died midway through a Nomin analysis video. At some stage he had also found himself writing notes on the back of one of the take-out menus that had previously occupied the coffee table in front of him. Pretty soon after that he had exhausted all of Youtube resources, forcing him to leave the application alone in hopes of finding other material elsewhere. The next logical place he could have looked could have possibly been on TikTok, but Chenle made the unfortunate decision of choosing Twitter.
The blue bird app was an entirely new playground. From innocent fancams and edited moments from their official videos, to widely suggestive OP sightings, Chenle was led down a dark spiral until finally he landed on some of the more popular AU threads. He quickly found himself thankful for investing time in studying English, which had allowed him a broader range of these explicit stories. Innocent curiosity had unknowingly consumed his entire night, with his third story coming to close just as the sun began to shine through the window of their dormitory.
