Chapter Sixteen

Anamika's pov :

As I descended the stairs, I saw all my friends from college waiting for me. My group surrounded me as soon as I reached the bottom of the staircase.
" Oh My God Annie! You look so pretty" Sara exclaimed. " I love those eyes," said Ishita. " You look beautiful babe" Aditi exclaimed. " Yeah, you look exactly the replica of what you are ' An Angelic Devil' " laughed Rohan. I thanked the girls for the compliments and rolled my eyes at Rohan. I looked at my friends and noticed that Aditi and Rohan were dressed as Devils while Ishita and Sara were dressed as Angels. " And look at you all, You guys look amazing " I complimented. " And Rohan, you do look like yourself aka Lucifer " I mocked. Rohan rolled his eyes at me. My parents came over to me next. " You look beautiful princess," said Papa
"I can't believe you are 18 now" Maa said a bit tearful. " My little sister is not so little anymore ha " Bhai said. I hugged my family. " Come on now, go meet everyone," said Papa. I nodded at them and went to greet everyone. All of them looked so good with their costumes.
" Happy Birthday Anamika " wished Maya. I thanked her and started making rounds. I lost count of how many people I had thanked. " Hey Anamika, great party" said Ankita. I smiled and thanked her. " Annie come let's cut the cake" said Maa. I nodded and went to the centre of the hall. Bhai brought out the cake. I cut the gorgeous angel and devil theme cake. Everyone sang the birthday song for me. I fed the cake to my family and friends. Maa took the rest of the cake to cut and distribute the pieces among all the guests. I asked everyone to keep all the gifts on the table. " Annie you have to open ours" demanded Sara. I laughed at her and agreed. First I opened Ishita's gift, she got me a sketchbook and some colour pencils. Then I opened Sara's gift, she had got me a silver bracelet and some earrings. Aditi gifted me a perfume and a customised diary. And lastly, Rohan got me a collage of all our best pictures. I thanked all of them for their thoughtful gifts. " Now that all the formalities are over, let's enjoy the party guys" I announced. Everyone cheered and started dancing and having fun. I roamed the entire room socializing here and there. Suddenly I saw Rohan talking to some girl in a devil dress. He looked kinda anxious and worried. It looked like they were having some kind of argument. More like Rohan was trying to make her understand something while the girl looked unbothered.
" Annie, what are you doing here? Come dance " exclaimed Sara while pulling me on the dance floor. I looked back at Rohan and the girl once and then continued dancing. After some time I bumped into him near the juice counter.
" Hey, is everything okay? I saw you arguing with some girl" I asked him.
" Yeah yeah everything is fine, she was just one of my admirers whom I rejected. Nothing to worry about birthday girl" he joked. I felt that he was hiding something but let it go for now. We continued to party till late. After a night full of fun, I bid all my friends bye.
" We had a lot of fun" " Great party" " Thank you for this evening," said everyone. I bid my group bye and came back inside to my family. " Had fun?" asked Papa. " So much" I replied. " Good," said Bhai. " Now it's time for our gifts," said Maa. I waited eagerly for the gifts.
Maa - Papa gifted me a gold chain and ring. And Bhai gifted me some books and a new coffee maker which can make all types of coffee. I thanked them for all the amazing gifts and went upstairs to my room. Tired from the day, I laid down on my bed to sleep. Before sleep only one image was coming to my mind, Rohan and that girl's argument. I have never seen him so nervous before. I guess I will have to talk to him tomorrow.
