"Thanks for coming Ric" Damon said letting Alaric in the house and closing the door behind him. "Can I get you something to drink coffee, Bourbon, Bourbon in your coffee" Damon asked.
"Elena mentioned you needed my help" Alaric said and sat down. "Yeah, we were uh hoping you could shed some light on the Lockwood family" Stefan said.
"Now why would I know anything about the Lockwood's" Alaric asked.
"Well, you wouldn't but your dead not dead vampire wife might" Damon said.
"Isobel's research from when you guys were at Duke together" Elena said. "You said that she had spent years researching this town" Stefan said.
"Which was probably because she was trying to be a vampire" Layla said.
"Isobel's research here Mystic Falls were rooted in folklore and legend at the time I thought most of which was fiction" Alaric said. "Like that amazing vampire story" Damon said.
"Even you at a time thought vampires weren't real" Layla told Damon and he glared at her. "Aside from vampires what else" Elena asked.
"Lycanthrope" Alaric said. "Wait like werewolves" Elena asked. "Werewolves exist since when" Layla asked. "No way impossible way too Lon Chaney" Damon said.
"Is it" Stefan asked. "I've been on this planet a hundred and sixty-some-odd years I've never come across one" Damon said.
"If werewolves exist, where are they" Damon asked.
"Why do you expect the Lockwood's" Alaric asked changing the subject.
"Because vervain didn't affect the mayor on Founder's Day, but the Gilbert device did, and it affected his son Tyler" Damon said.
"And at the school carnival his uncle Mason exhibited inhuman behavior when he fought one of the carnival workers, so it suggested some sort of a supernatural entity" Stefan said.
"And he definitely wasn't a vampire" Layla added.
"We were hoping that Isobel's research could help us figure out what it is" Elena said.
"A lot of her things are still at Duke I mean her office is still there she's technically still missing" Alaric said.
"So can we get access to it" Damon asked. "Ric, we need to know what we're dealing with if this wolf man thing is true, I've seen enough movies to know it's not good It means Mason Lockwood is a real-life Lon Chaney and that little Tyler punk may just very well be Lon Chaney junior which means Bella Lugosi meaning me is totally screwed" Damon said.

Layla was leaned against the car waiting for Elena with Damon. "Sorry you can't come too Stef" Damon said. "Damon don't start" Layla said.
"Call me if you need anything" Stefan told Elena. "Oh, I'll take really good care of her" Damon said.
"Just as long as she comes back in one, piece big brother so I don't have to kill you for her getting hurt or kidnapped even" Layla told Damon.
"Don't worry baby sis" Damon told Layla. Elena and Stefan kissed, and Layla looked at Damon and patted him on the shoulder when Elena pulled away.
"Okay time to go" Damon said and Elena and Damon got in the car and Alaric drove off.
