Elena was at the grill with Layla when Damon appeared next to Layla. "Well, I have a feeling this is not going to end well" Layla said.
Elena looked confused till she noticed him and sighed. "What do you want" Elena asked. "So, this is where you spend your time when you're not stabbing people in the back" Damon said.
"I tricked you into telling me the truth that's not stabbing you in the back that's using your own tactics against you" Elena said.
"Where are you going" Damon asked. "I made myself clear Damon I want nothing to do with you" Elena said and got up.
"You do know tons of people have said that to each other all the time but never actually really mean it" Layla said. "You're not helping" Elena said to Layla. "Who said I was trying to" Layla asked.
"Okay see you at Jenna's barbecue" Damon said. "How did you know about Jenna's barbecue" Elena asked.
"It was my idea Jenna went to high school with Mason Lockwood so I figured a social would be a good way to get to know the guy I told Ric to tell Jenna and" Damon said.
"Does Jenna know that you're going to be there" Elena asked.
"Because she's not exactly a fan of yours" Elena told Damon. "She likes Layla but not you" Elena said.
A waiter came over and gave Damon a box of a peach cobbler before leaving.
"Perfect thank you I'm hoping this peach cobbler will pave the way" Damon said and got up. "What are you up to" Elena asked. "Knowing my brother nothing good" Layla said.
"I'm gonna put some silver into Mason Lockwood and prove he's a werewolf see you at the barbecue" Damon said.
Elena then looked at Layla. "Don't look at me I came here for the strawberries besides I can't control my idiot of a brother" Layla said and ate a strawberry.

"Oh, hey Jeremy" Layla said as she saw him while she was on her way to Elena's. "Hey Layla" Jeremy said. "You going to the barbecue" Jeremy asked.
"Yes, Elena invited me though I have a feeling it's not going to end well since my eldest brother is also going" Layla said and Jeremy nodded. "Well, I wish you luck" Jeremy said to her.
"Thanks, I'll need it" Layla said then noticed the look on Jeremy's face. "What" Layla said.
"You know you're probably the first friend I ever made that didn't try to change me after what happened with my parents, I'm really glad you came here" Jeremy said as Layla smiled. "Me too" Layla said and left.

Layla was with Elena helping in the kitchen. "Oh, hey thanks for inviting me as I'm the only girl in that house I need a break very easily I love my brothers but sometimes" Layla said.
"No need to explain I get it and you're welcome here anytime" Jenna said and Layla smiled.
"Thanks for letting me invite Caroline she could use a day of distraction" Elena said.
"Well, she's not the plus one I'm worried about" Jenna said going over to Elena and Layla. "Why is Damon coming" Jenna asked.
"Because Alaric is a pity taker come on Jenna be nice, he's still Layla's brother rather we like it or not" Elena said. "No, I understand he is a bit much and he's not always the best, but no family is perfect" Layla said.
"I'll be nice when Damon learns to keep his paws off you" Jenna said. "Ah good news found the shot glasses" Mason said coming in.
"That would be my exit" Elena said. "Guess me too" Layla said leaving with Elena.
