Layla sat by herself at Carol's funeral as Tyler could barely look at her not understanding how she can be friends with someone who murdered his mom or even date his brother.
Sometimes Layla questioned it herself but then again, she was waited what felt like a lifetime for a dream guy and here he was and she wasn't giving him up.
Regardless how she felt about Klaus she knew if she wanted to be with Kol, she had to somewhat get along with Klaus no matter what and regardless of what anyone thinks she does somewhat believe he can be good with the right motivation.
"Carol Lockwood always said that togetherness in times of tragedy leads to healing that one community is stronger than a thousand of its members" Liz said.
"But how does a community stay strong after losing its leader" Liz asked.
"And Carol was so much more than just a mayor she was an open-minded friend and a concerned mother and aunt taken from us too soon by a terrible accident" Liz said and Layla couldn't take it anymore, so she left.

Layla was walking in the school hallways when she saw Rebekah with Stefan.
"Rebekah, Stefan" Layla said. Rebekah turned and faced her. "Layla lovely to see you" Rebekah said.
"Your back" Layla asked confused. "Yes, come with you don't want to miss this" Rebekah said.
"Miss what" Layla asked. "You'll see" Rebekah said and Layla left with Rebekah and Stefan.

Layla, Elena, and Rebekah walked into the classroom and Layla saw Elena and Caroline sat at a table. "Stefan" Elena said getting up.
"Did I say you could move" Rebekah asked and Elena sat back down. "Class is in session" Rebekah said. "Rebekah what are you doing" Layla asked.
"Don't worry you'll find out shortly just relax" Rebekah told Layla.
"You've all been compelled you know the rules except Layla because I trust her and plus, I'm her sire so she won't try to kill me" Rebekah said and Stefan sat down.
"Try to kill you" Layla asked and saw the look on Caroline and Stefan's face. "You idiots I could've died" Layla said.
"Layla I'm sorry I'm so sorry I wasn't thinking" Stefan said. "We both weren't" Caroline said. "Don't just don't" Layla said angrily.
"Answer my questions honestly no disobedience no one leaves April my sweet take notes this is how you get answers in this town let's start with a little quiz in the year 1114 my brother learned thanks to yours truly and a brotherhood of a vampire hunters that grew with each kill" Rebekah said.
"These tattoos revealed what Elena" Rebekah asked. "A map" Elena said.
"Which led to Caroline" Rebekah asked. "A cure for vampirism" Caroline said.
"Perfect so we're all caught up Stefan Salvatore the last time we saw each other you had a vampire hunter but in order to decode the map you needed the location of the hunter's sword which you got out of me using some very dirty tricks assuming you found the sword you must have found the cure and yet you're all still vampires which means something went wrong" Rebekah said.
"What are you doing" Rebekah asked April. "Is she really taking notes" Layla asked. "Oh, you asked me to take notes" April said.
"I wasn't being literal darling but now that you mention it a flow chart would be nice which means index cards and push pins go fetch" Rebekah said and April left.
"You're wasting your time we don't know anything" Stefan said.
"So, you just gave up" Rebekah asked. "I thought you'd do anything to save Elena even if it meant taking the cure yourself so you could grow old and die with her" Rebekah said and Elena looked surprised.
"Why do you look so surprised" Rebekah asked. "I'm missing something" Rebekah said. "What is it" Rebekah asked.
"They broke up okay now let us go" Caroline said. "Broke up" Rebekah asked.
"Wait I'm confused I thought Elena was your epic love Stefan" Rebekah said and sat down. "I asked you what happened you have to tell me" Rebekah said to Stefan.
"She slept with Damon" Stefan said and Elena looked at Caroline which Layla noticed.

"So, vampire Elena is a trollop who likes bad boys" Rebekah said getting up from her seat.
"Which explains why Stefan reeks of alcohol but what it doesn't explain is why sweet loving innocent Elena could be so heartless towards Stefan" Rebekah said. "How could she hurt you like that" Rebekah asked.
"Answer please" Rebekah said. "She didn't know it at the time, but she was sired to Damon" Stefan said. "Not this again" Layla said.
"A sire bond fascinating" Rebekah said sitting down. "And what do you think about that Elena" Rebekah asked.
"I think you're sad and bored and in desperate need of a hobby" Elena said.
"I didn't sleep with Damon because of his sire bond I slept with Damon because I'm in love with him" Elena said. Stefan looked hurt and Elena and Caroline looked at him for a moment.
"What does any of this have to do with the stupid cure" Caroline asked. "You're right we got off the point" Rebekah said.
"Stefan how do I find the cure" Rebekah asked. "Unless you rather talk about Damon and Elena all day" Rebekah said. "There's a professor he knows where the cure is" Stefan said.
"Okay you have this handled right" Layla said to Rebekah. "Layla" Elena said and Layla interrupted.
"Elena no, as much as I support you following your heart you broke my brother's heart and I always choose family first, regardless, if we're friends" Layla said.
"And you two how could you I'm sired to Rebekah, you kill her you kill me" Layla said to Stefan and Caroline then left.
