the new wound jean opened on y/n's heart was some weeks old and it still bled through the bandages she was putting on it.

she missed him a lot, and she was only able to admit this to ymir.

because sasha and historia were talking to him, like nothing ever happened.

there was this one time jean told them to contact her, in order for her to hang out with them at his house· but, y/n refused.

she knew what this meant. it was jean's try to step foot in her life again, act like nothing ever happened, have her by his side and then leave her.

y/n figured out the sick game he loved to play and she wouldn't fall for it again. she wouldn't give him a third chance.

she knew that she was the one who gave him a chance, back when she went to his house for the first time after he distanced himself.

even then, she was expecting things to end the way they did. she knew jean couldn't have possibly changed, but she hoped he had.

she'd be a fool if she allowed herself to go through all of it again.

and because she didn't want to be the foolish one of the whole story, she started prioritizing things.

her priority wasn't making jean love her. nor her loving him.

her priority was herself. her health; both physical and mental. and her studies.

she wanted to get rid of all the feelings her heart held for jean.

she wanted to get rid of all the pain and the hurt he caused her.

she wanted to find herself, again, even if it seemed impossible.

she wanted to love and focus on herself.

she, finally, wanted to be the best version of herself.

without pain.

without sleepless nights.

without headaches caused by endless crying.

without jean in her life.
