after one and a half months into the new year, y/n started thinking that she couldn't keep playing pretend with sasha and historia. so, she texted them to meet up.
"what's up?" sasha asked, sitting across from her.
"i'm just gonna get to the point of it, because there's no need to sugar-coat anything" y/n started.
"i think it's time we go our separate ways"
"we knew this was coming" historia softly laughed.
"how so?"
"it's rare for you to send a serious message about meeting up, so, we kinda figured it'd be about this" sasha answered.
"can we know why, though?" historia commented.
"of course! i wouldn't just leave without explaining!" y/n said.
"for the past weeks, i've been feeling kinda... weird about this whole situation"
"and i started feeling that jean is your choice"
she looked at the two girls, noticing the confusion on their expressions.
"basically, i feel like an option you choose when your choice is not available"
"so, you're saying that we put jean above you?"
"exactly, sasha!"
"this is not true!"
"is it not, historia? because that's how it looks to me!"
"you always hang out with jean and i'm the one who has to suggest going out on a walk! and you only agree when he's not available!"
"and should i mention the fact that you always talk about him? yes, he's your friend and you feel him as close as a brother, or whatever, but did you ever think if i was okay with that?"
"did you ever sit down and think if it hurts me when you're talking about him?" y/n added.
"no" historia sighed.
"i had every reason to forbid you from talking about him, like sasha did back then! but, i didn't do that! because i could see how happy both of you were!"
"and, at first, i was in fucking pain whenever you told me stuff about him and the fun you had when you were hanging out"
"is he the only reason for your choice of cutting us off?"
"no, sasha!"
"then, i don't understand!"
"i know you don't"
"we had problems in our friendship for years! we fought once, i told you to end it, you told me you'd change, i believed you and gave you another chance and this repeated for more than three times"
"what about me?"
"we never ever fought or had a slight argument, historia! but, i just don't feel the connection anymore" y/n said, looking at the girl.
"this actually goes to both of you! i don't feel that sparkle anymore! i used to be so excited when i was getting ready to go out with you, but, now... it just feels like a chore"
"after what happened on my birthday and you went back to talking to him like nothing ever happened, i felt so betrayed. it looked like you were taking his side and not mine"
"and even if i tried to warn you about him -because i didn't want to see you getting hurt by him and his actions- you just straight up ignored me and stayed by his side"
the two girls looked at her, sasha's eyes filled with tears.
"is there anything i can do for you to give me another chance?"
"there's nothing you can do, sasha. people never change. no matter how much you cry, right now, my choice will not be anything different" y/n said.
"also, i could never possibly ask you to choose between me and him"
"we can't do that!" historia said.
"i know"
"but, you should know that if you asked me that, i'd choose you in a heartbeat"
"my love for jean was nothing in front of the love i had for the two of you. you were there through thick and thin, you supported me and helped me· but, on a time where i needed you the most you didn't choose me"
"so, now, it's my time to choose. and sadly, people who make me feel left out, aren't the people i want in my life"
the two girls nodded their heads, their cheeks stained with tears.
"don't cry! your life will still keep going and you'll still have each other, for god's sake!" y/n said, smiling softly.
"thank you for telling us and not leaving without saying a word"
"you know i'm not the type to do a shitty thing like that, sasha" she laughed.
"since this is the last time we're together, like this, i'd like to thank you for everything. i'm really thankful for every single moment we spent together, and i'll still cherish the memories we have"
"i don't want you to think that i'm doing this out of spite or anything like that! because it's simply not true"
"we've grown and we have different priorities and choices, now! it's all natural! losing me will probably change nothing in your life-"
"you're wrong! i already regret not choosing you" sasha said, interrupting her.
"there's nothing you can do about that, now! you can only move on. historia is gonna do that, too, with you" y/n replied, in which both girls nodded.
"i just hope that life will treat you well and you will be filled with nothing but happiness"
"and i hope he, your choice, is worth this"
