Atlanta Camp, midafternoon...
Eleanor Adams sat on the tailgate of her brother's truck. He had packed up their tent and just about everything else, only leaving essentials in the front seat. The sun was hot and beating down on the girl as she sat, slumped over, hair a mess, and locked in that thousand-yard stare. It was an impenetrable force, consuming her mind in awful and mean thoughts.
"It's hot out here," Tucker sighed, leaning against the side of the vehicle and looking at his sister. He had been helping the women and children pack up, acting as their muscle while the rest of the men were either burying or burning the dead. "Have you had any water?" Elle shuffled her gaze slowly but it never met Tucker's. Instead, it stopped on her aunts laying in the dirt. Covered in Amy's blood, Elle was still covered in Amy's blood. Her shirt had handprints all over it along with rogue smears on her skin and Jesus the bruise on her cheek hurt. It lit up in pain just about in time with her racing heart.
"Amy's dead," Tucker spoke harshly. "And we need to put her down before she gets back up."
"I haven't been to Florida..." Was all Elle could muster up saying, her voice quiet and hoarse because contrary to her brother's query. She hadn't had any water that day.
"Yeah? Well, I have and it didn't change a damn thing. What the hell is wrong with you?" Tucker snapped, throwing his hat in the bed of the truck and stalking away. Her gaze settled back on her mother and Andrea, cradling their baby sister's lifeless body while many people tried to comfort them. They sat in silence, much like their younger counterpart a few meters away.
"Andrea, Rory?" Lori spoke, leaning down and crouching next to the girls. "Hey, she's gone now. We ought to bury her, now Rick will be as gentle as he can and we'll fashion her a headstone? How's that sound?" The brunette continued.
"Why don't you worry about your family and I'll worry about mine," Rory muttered, her tone low and serious.
"Andrea, please." Rick started, joining his wife at her side. All went quiet as Andrea hoisted her gun up from the ground and cocked it.
"I know how the safety works." She growled, Rick and Lori slowly backed away. Retreating back to the small group circled around the burned-out fire pit.
"Y'all can't be serious," Tucker huffed, staring at Rick and Lori.
"Kid's right, she's hamstringing us. That dead girl is a time bomb." Daryl agreed.
"Yeah, and what do you suggest we do?" Rick huffed, turning from the blonde to the man at his side.
"Take the shot, clean in the brain from here. Hell, I can hit a turkey between the eyes from this distance."
"No, for God's sake. Leave her be," Lori breathed out, taking a seat on the car seats someone had pulled from their vehicle. Tucker looked between the group before walking away, finding Glenn and T-Dog where they were lining up rows of people they knew who perished in the attack.
