The Greene's Dining Room, early afternoon...
"So, which one of y'all wants to tell me what the hell you were thinking bringing home a man who was actively shooting at you?" Shane snarled, hands flat on the dining room table as he glared between Elle, Glenn, and Rick. However, the glare would've been extended to Herschel as well if the man hadn't been washing up after the procedure.
"A man? He's just a kid." Rick scoffed, opposing the former deputy. "We couldn't just leave him there, he would'a bled out. If he made it that long,"
"It's getting bad in town, walkers are coming in from the cities," Glenn added, leaning back in his chair and trying to avoid Maggie's gaze as best as possible.
As soon as the Cherokee rolled to a stop, Maggie ran to her father and enveloped him in a hug. Though, that only was because her initial target didn't spare her a single glance. He merely looked the other way, pulling Eleanor Adams with him, hands intertwined.
Simply confirming any worries Maggie had about his unwillingness to stay at the farm indefinitely.
"There's no food left in the city." Elle nodded, her leg beginning to bounce under the table. The boy at her side gently placed his hand at her knee, halting the nervous tick.
"I repaired his calf muscle the best I could but he'll likely have nerve damage. Won't be on his feet for at least a week." Herschel spoke as he entered the dining room. Eyes wide at just how packed the room was, every single person on the farm was there. Save poor Bethy who was on her third bag of IV fluids.
"And when he is? We'll give him a canteen, drop him off at the main road, and send him on his way." Rick folded his arms across his body.
"Isn't that the same as leaving him for the walkers?" Andrea sighed.
"And a waste of medical supplies." Daryl spoke quietly.
"Yeah? Why risk it to save him only to turn him loose? Should've either left him or at least keep him around. Another set of hands is always helpful." Tucker looked up at Rick and Herschel.
"Another set of hands is fine, it's another mouth to feed we don't want." Shane grumbled, his eyes rolling to the ceiling and back when the group chorused a groan.
"We'd be even on mouths to feed if you'd have left like I asked you to. You're lucky Rick spoke to me in your favor." Herschel looked pointedly at Shane as he flipped the white towel over his shoulder.
Shane bit the inside of his cheek but luckily Rick spoke up before he could dig himself into an even deeper hole. "He'll have a fighting chance, a second chance, which his group would not have given him. People deserve second chances,"
"So you're big plan is to give him some water and trust he leaves? He knows where we are." Shane growled.
"He was blindfolded on the way here." Glenn breathed out, glaring at the man. Looking down at his hand on Elle's thigh when hers grabbed on to his tightly.
