"For as far as I know-- the Blacks are vengeful yet are stealth. It is best to keep an eye on the tracks of that Deraumon, but we must attempt to be their ally for the sake of the red keep and Oldtown city-- if it is really them, we cannot make them think that we are foes." The king sat on his chair as all council members, including Alicent who kept a frown on her face.
"But we are house Targaryen, your grace. Surely, we cannot be overwhelmed by this Deraumon nor the Blacks. We are powerful, we have got the dragons, an army-- we cannot be defeated." Julius spoke from his seat.
Viserys sighed, "This isn't about war, Julius. This is about preventing one and making an ally with one of the richest and handful houses."
Otto nodded in agreement while Julius, still not getting it, he spoke again "But why must we-"
"Your grace, if I may? Perhaps, some of your men would make such great assistance if they could come and guard the oldtown until we are able to catch this man." He cut the hand off and offered a suggestion to the king.
Julius leaned in with a frown, "House Targaryen do not give off our men so easil-"
Viserys sighed once more before nodding at his seat, "The Hightowers and Targaryens are joined houses. Therefore, their support is ours and our protection is promised to them."
Julius fell silent at this and then gave Otto a disapproving glance. Otto bowed his head slowly to the king in gratitude for his approval of the term of sending some of his men at the Oldtown city.
The king searched for the princess' eyes and nodded at her, signaling for her to bear his cup. Rhaenyra, knowing what to do- she walked towards the table from the corner of the room and grabbed the oinochoe before approaching the table of the men with Alicent in it. She silently stopped beside the seat of her father and poured out a wine in his cup. While pouring, Rhaenyra could feel a hard gaze on her causing her to look up- only to find Alicent's eyes looking away from her.
She pulled the wine jug when the cup had already met the amount of wine inside it, and then gave the queen another glance by looking up sharply with her head slightly bowed down.
"I will send three hundred of my men, would that be enough?" The king asked Otto.
The silver head princess and the queen had been stealing glances towards each other. Whenever their eyes meet, they would unintentionally make the glances thick.
"You moved me so well and deeply, your grace. I humbly express my gratitude." Otto said, earning a nod from the king. Alicent didn't even notice nor was focusing about the conversation. She tore her eyes away quickly from Rhaenyra, seeing that all eyes are on her. Her eyes went quite tense and so did her body- but despite her honest reaction- she really didn't wanna make it seem as if she wasn't listening so she tried to shift on her seat and behave normally.
