Rhaenyra was right in the moment where the knightguards had stood aside and opened the doors for her outside her Queen's bedchambers. As she finally stepped inside, expecting to see her father alongside his wife— she saw him none.

"Your grace." Rhaenyra bowed at the Queen whose back is facing her while lighting a few candles.

Alicent stayed silent not long before blowing out the flame off her stick. She sighed and attempted to turn around, "The hour is late."

Rhaenyra turned her head slightly to the side in disbelief  "I'm sorry to say but you were the one who called me at this late matter of time—"

"That is because you were unable to locate when the sun still arises, princess." Alicent's tone was cold and bore, making Rhaenyra shut her mouth. When she didn't respond, the Queen have spoken again, "I am in need of clarification regarding a matter I have received." She moved to the fireplace, facing it and watching as the flames moved.

"On the day when we were at the gardens, I have asked you— Where were you after the council chamber on the day of picking your betrothed?" Alicent mimicked her own question, "And you answered me that you were with the lady Dorcas," She paused.

Rhaenyra looked at the queen warily, knowing that she already knows. Sooner, her purple eyes met Alicent's who turned to look at her with a cold expression, "You were indeed not with the lady Dorcas... were you not?"

Alicent's tone and expression was too cold that even the princess Rhaenyra had to inhale a sharp breath. She has never felt this aura from the Queen before, not even when she used to be mad at Rhaenyra, no— this is too far eerie for her that she feels like she shouldn't move an inch under that dead look in Alicent's eyes.

"Let me ask you again, princess Rhaenyra— and mind you, this time, I need is truth," Alicent began to approach her without breaking any eye contact, "Where were you and what did you do?" She asked

The silver head watched her and remained still on her foot, "You already know, why are you asking again?" She asked with such suspicion, slightly squinting her eyes.

Alicent's eyes twitched before turning her direction away in a split second, making Rhaenyra flinch in the slightest. "So you ought to say that the knight has indeed touched you with your no permission— concluding this as rape." She continued to rant as she runs her hand on a few pile of papers on her desk, hands are trembling but her discomfort and rush is most shown, "I am to write for this and have him called for treason. He will be out from those bars in a day and be sent to the scaffold—"

"No." Rhaenyra spoke. Alicent froze with her lips trembling and eyes glued to her desk. "He doesn't deserve it," the princess paused, "I initiated it. He didn't touch me with no permission, I gave him the permission and yet so initiated the act."

Upon hearing this, Alicent shut her eyes in a very tight manner. Her breathing was rigid and she formed a fist on the desk with her knuckles turning almost white as she trembles. She had stayed like this for seconds before inhaling a sharp breath and regaining her composure with a devastated sigh, this continued with no eye contact. "Must you really... really admit it?" Alicent sighed in a devastated manner

The princess furrowed her eyebrows in confusion towards the queen. Alicent brought her hands to her hips before meeting those purple eyes that now haunts her.

"You have lied before, why can't you now?" Alicent hissed in complain

"You already knew, why are you in such denial?"

"Oh, because it is the truth I wish not to seek! It is the truth that I so wanted to deny that It would take centuries under my cold grave would I accept it!" Alicent had lost it. She fumed but rather in despair. Her eyes are screaming for betrayal and comfort that the person she desires for to give could not give. "I never wanted to believe my father, I knew you were a rebel but not stupid enough to give someone else your maidenhood. You're barely a grown woman, you have only just turned ten and eight!"

The princess had rather found this tiresome, shaking her head with an attitude as well as redirecting her eyes. "It's best to save the scolding with my father—"

"Could you for once be more sincere, Rhaenyra? Could you even think for a second that maybe this isn't just about your reputation, not mine, not your father's, nor the kingdom's. This is also the fact that you have made me fall into great deep sorrow, disappointment, and devastation with your impudent act!" Alicent's voice demanded understanding from the princess. She wanted Rhaenyra to understand of what she's referring and delivering without actually wanting to say what it is exactly— because she knew that if she did— then it would be her own shame.

"This isn't just about the reputation at all, clearly you have made that crystal clear... what are you implying?"

Alicent turned to her side in a quick manner, her hand went up to her forehead while the other remains on her hip, "Don't play stupid with me, you know what I meant." she brought her hand back down to her hips, inhaling a deep breath

Rhaenyra furrowed her eyebrows and began to slowly approach the queen. "No,"

she surely knows

"What I do not know is if your concern is out of the relationship of as a mother," she made her way behind Alicent, "Or as something more."

Feeling the presence of the princess, the Hightower has made sure to face her with a safe distance, "This isn't the right time to mix up your stupid desire with me to my worries for you."

"What else are you implying? Why can't you enlighten me?" the princess challenged.

"Rhanyra." Alicent warned, taking a few steps ahead Rhaenyra once again, trembling on the action, "I'll have your father speak to you for this."

"Isn't that where it eventually goes?"

Alicent shakes her head and rolls her eyes while torturing her lower lip harshly— her reaction of denial has been so strong as if she have been grieving. "Why?" She suddenly asks

"Because I was in need of some compan—"

Alicent flashed around to face her, "Seven hells, that's absurd! Why?"

Rhaenyra's purple orbs had expanded, her freezing stance remained still. "You really want to know why? " the princess leaned forward in a hard manner, "It's because I couldn't handle the thought of you being touched by someone else, let alone my father— and somehow I cannot complain because it is in fact what should be really done in the first place, it is his right." she confessed. Rhaenyra stood staring at the widened eyes of the Alicent Hightower, the Queen.

Alicent's lips trembled, staring with expanded eyes— and almost immediately, she turned away with a sound of distress. "Your maidenhood all because of that."

The princess shook her head and looked away in utter disappointment, expecting for the Queen to understand— but of course, how could she? She's all about her duty, too busy to think of it to ever come across of the thought of how meaningful her and Rhaenyra's relationship was. On the other hand, Alicent currently stares at a blank space, clenching her jaw. Thinking she understands, but oh— how could the princess be so cruel and stupid to do this to her? To make the Queen of Red Keep's heart ache, to hurt her feelings. How could she? Alicent felt betrayed, dirty, too, of letting herself be touched by the silver head but didn't she too? Weren't she touched by the king?

Alicent sighed and had shut her eyes for a moment before turning around to fully face her step-daughter. "Your father will be here in a short matter of time. You stay here, I ought to get some fresh air." she murmured, walking past Rhaenyra who said nothing but stood still.

Alicent withdrew from the bedchambers and left the princess standing there in a lonely silence.
