"Rhaenyra" The queen stood up slowly when at first second she thought the princess was going to leave, but instead, Rhaenyra approached AlicentNot knowing why, she stood up still. She nervously did without breaking eye contact, leaving them with space only so little. Inappropriate distance for a princess and a queen to be on. Both looked into each other's eyes steadily while Alicent's breathing was rigid, hands are stiff on her own. Rhaenyra's eyes moved to Alicent's side, directly to where her hand landed. She pushed a strand of the queen's curls behind her ear, clearing Alicent's face. The touch made Alicent even more compelled not to move, to stay frozen in front of the younger woman who's been initiating almost everything ever since with a bold move. Rhaenyra's eyes then unconsciously looked down on Alicent's lips, making the ginger head run a shiver on her own spine
"You say I am no longer alone— yet in every way, in every corner of the room, behind the walls; I cannot feel you," Rhaenyra whispered dangerously close to Alicent, having her breathing be felt by the woman
Alicent trembled, her eyes darting away from the purple orbs. Before she replied, she gulped, "You know- I... have always been here, Rhaenyra. We were just not-"
"Not what?" Rhaenyra cut her off, running the back of her two fingers softly on Alicent's cheek who hitched a breath at the contact
"We were just not... doing this properly..." Alicent heaved out
The words turned out pretty not so innocent, making Rhaenyra prevent a small smirk. She tilted her head to the side, eyeing her step-mother innocently "What's that we're not doing properly?" She paused and placed her hand on Alicent's shoulder
"This?" Boldly, she placed her fingers under Alicent's cheek— making her face her again. She leaned in a little bit more with her eyes looking up to the Hightower, as seem asking for permission
Alicent's heart had to leap out for the action her husband's daughter did. "Rhaenyra," She leaned back looking away but the silver head held her close.
"Alicent."
"Do not." With those just two words compelled her step-daughter. Rhaenyra froze until Alicent's eyes finally met hers again. She completely backed away by stepping behind, her sweaty palms were ran through her sides as she moves. As if Rhaenyra was someone with disease, with sickness, as if she was someone not to touch even just the slightest.
Rhaenyra watched her with despair and little disappointment, she sighed as she watches Alicent, "Rhaenyra, you are betrothed to lord Caspain."
Alicent saw it. She saw it in Rhaenyra that she was frustrated. Rhaenyra just shook her head and stared at the older woman for a second before sighing once more, "Your Grace," Rhaenyra curtsied by bending a knee and bowing her head before turning around mindlessly. Alicent had to watch her step-daughter walk away and outside with a heart ache. When Rhaenyra was out of sight, Alicent didn't realize the breath she was holding. She heaved out a sigh in relief before bringing herself to sit down on a chair. She ran her hand on her neck while anxiously breathing.
Close— that was close—
Alicent wouldn't know what to do if she let Rhaenyra get into her once again. It makes her mind go mad. Despite longing for the younger's presence and touch, she just can't— she mustn't restore what doesn't need to be there between her and the princess.
"Clear out the lanes!" Daemon yelled with men behind him armed. He didn't feel like using Caraxes in order to not burn the city his queen so loves about— so he planned to only bring his dragon for intimidation or when something's gone the other way.
