Alicent currently stands with both her hands on each hips while lady Emma tightens the ties of her dress. The queen sighed impatiently, the look of rush on her face. Losing her patience, she suddenly decided that her dress was tight enough and began to walk towards the exit"Your grace, your dress—" lady Emma gasped in concern and rushed towards the queen
"I think my dress is tightened enough, lady Emma. Thank you, but I must make haste." Alicent answered as she opened the door out of her chambers
"Why are we in such hurry, if it wouldn't harm to ask, my queen?" the lady asked curiously with a frown, struggling to keep up with the redhead's pace
Alicent suddenly felt her heart skipped a beat at the question. That is true. Why is she such in a hurry? Is it because she is needed? Is it because she is worried of the news that the council holds for her? or is it because she's eager to finish all her works just to spend her time with the princess, who, has been making her feel light these past few times they shared together?
Alicent had noticed their time and the bond they shared before they were interrupted earlier, but, being the woman she is, she shook the thought off of her and realized that the woman beside her still awaits her answer, "I am needed, the council must be holding deep news for me." her tone was unsure. Her breathing became rigid before heading downstairs to the council chamber and do her duty.
An hour has passed and the door of the council chamber went wide open, all the remaining members are walking out. Meanwhile, Alicent had let herself fall on the chair before massaging her temples and sighing in distress. The meeting has made the queen's head ache and it was a pain in her arse.
The queen sighed once more before letting her arm fall as she leans on the arm chair. Her mind suddenly flashed the image of her Targaryen step-daughter, having her heart rate increase. "Where is the princess?" she suddenly asked the knight who stood in the room
"She was last seen heading towards the library, my queen," the knight answered from under his armor. Alicent nodded and thanked him for his answer before standing up and heading towards the exit.
"From my blood, come the prince that was promised, and his will be the Song of Ice and Fire..." Rhaenyra murmured the words out loud from the textbook that she reads. A small smile spreading on her face after seeing those familiar words that she have seen from her father's blade that were written in High Valyrian
"Am I interrupting?"
The sudden familiar voice made Rhaenyra's head piqued up from the book, "Your grace," her voice sounds with uncertainty, "N-no, what brings you here?" the princess stood up from her seat
Alicent slowly made her way towards the princess with a shy demeanor that she tries to cover, "Sit down, it's all right," she told the princess
Rhaenyra shook her head, "It's all right, I am to grab another book anyway," the princess declared. Alicent silently and slowly nodded her head. She watched as Rhaenyra left the table and headed towards the bookshelf. She stood behind the silver head awkwardly.
"I just.. thought I might check on you," she finally brought herself to say it out loud. Her nervousness never left tho— she prevented herself from picking her skin from her fingers. A habit when she's anxious or rather nervous, so instead she scratched her neck awkwardly
Rhaenyra turned her head with a frown and a teasing smile, "Am I truly that untrusted?" she chuckled and looked back to the books on the shelf, "Don't worry, your grace, I haven't been misbehaving." she confessed with a hint of jest, but Alicent inhaled deeply and smiled slightly before approaching the princess without Rhaenyra sensing her presence.
"Although I might consider getting mischievous again, but that would've just been bad, wouldn't it?" the princess continued to speak without realizing of what was currently happening behind her. The silver head grabbed a book that caught her attention and had finally turned around when suddenly, Alicent was just right behind her. She immediately gasped and flinched, her playful smile was replaced with her mouth slightly agape.
"You would do no such thing." Alicent declared, a small smile appeared as she looked down on the princess who was trying to calm her heart down deep inside at the almost heart attack she experienced. Her purple eyes stared into Alicent's brown orbs that seemed to hold something behind those eyes. Neither of the two knows that both of them are just as confused yet intrigued by one another. Alicent, in her current state, is unaware of how she's making the princess' heart beat increase— while Rhaenyra doesn't know how much she's making Alicent vague just by the sight and current situation they were in.
"L-like I said," Rhaenyra tried to jest but her nervousness just made her true emotions bare. She darted her purple eyes somewhere else before Alicent had finally took a step back and stepped aside for the princess.
Rhaenyra awkwardly pardoned herself while clutching the book to her chest. She turned her head around to look at Alicent whose eyes are already on hers while grabbing a book on the shelf for herself.
The princess felt her heart skipped a beat again at the eye contact that thrilled her. Turning her head back, she couldn't help but smile at the feeling she couldn't understand. They both know that there's a feeling within them, both of them are not just certain of what those feelings are but they're there.
While Rhaenyra heads back to the table, Alicent completely snatched the book from the shelf and followed the princess. Both sat at the table in front of each other.
The silver head eyed the queen who opened the book and met her gaze before they slowly looked back on their textbooks, regaining their composures and attempting to act composed.
Rhaenyra then heard the queen cleared her throat, "What are you reading about?" she asked
Rhaenyra glanced at her and then back to the book. She smirked as she reads, "I wouldn't know, this is your library, I just got the book."
Alicent felt her cheeks heat up. She mentally scolded herself for seeming to lose her sanity. Her common sense all because of these overwhelming emotions she's feeling?
In the end, the both of them ended up reading their books in complete comfortable silence. No awkwardness, no tension, they suddenly clicked at the soothing silence by being around one another, just reading, just their presence.
