"I cannot deny the possible chemistry they hold," Viserys smiled beside the queen who clenched her jaw silently.
"Indeed." She replied, her eyes not leaving the dancing betrothed. At that very moment, Alicent wanted to be left alone. To be somewhere other than the celebration and other than beside the king, her husband, as she didn't want to deal with his words— In fact, she wanted to be alone from him as much as possible. She suffocates at the presence of the king in many ways— not to talk about, the failed mating went a disaster. She sighed on her seat before seeing Delmon watching the king intensely, causing Alicent's brows to furrow. The young man was no longer watching Rhaenyra dance but the king on his seat instead. Eyeing Viserys like a young predator, it made her grow deeply concern.
Meanwhile, along with the crowd, Jafar watched the princess with devastation and a sigh with hands on his back.
"Awe, poor you–" A feminine voice chirped beside him. He instantly rolled his eyes, knowing who it was. He shook his head, he knows not to entertain his sister— growing tired of her endless teasing.
"Your heart must be crushing into tiny bits now— but don't worry. Look, they're perfect for each other." Gwenyth continued, pointing sarcastically towards Caspain and Rhaenyra.
On the next day, Caspain and Rhaenyra were called to the small council chamber. Both of them walked their ways while being escorted with four knightguards surrounding them.
Alaric stood by the entrance of the door, his eyes hardened at the sight of the blonde who was holding his chin up, not sparing him a glance. Alaric's eyes soon met the purple ones, looking at her with begging and longing in his orbs where Rhaenyra had seen the same thing. She sighed, thinking there's more of her to deal with. She looked away when the doors were finally opened for them.
Inside the chambers, there Alicent and Otto sat along with the others including her uncles. Grinning, Julius welcomed the two, all eyes are now on them.
"There's our lovers!" He opened his arms wide, "Princess Rhaenyra," He bowed
"Where's father?" The princess asked, Alicent watched her with aching heart.
"The king will come shortly, princess. For the mean time, I would suggest you to sit." Julius answered, he clasped his hands down.
"Come now, my princess." Caspain spoke softly, placing his hand on her lower back. They silently made their way to their chairs, now sitting beside each other.
"Your grace," Caspain murmured towards the queen. Alicent forced a smile on herself to present when Rhaenyra's eyes fell on her, "Hello, Caspain. How lucky you are to be picked as my daughter's betrothed, don't you think?" She spoke with no sincerity
"Yes, I suppose I am very lucky." The blonde smiled
Alicent raised a brow, feeling petty— she replied, "You suppose?"
Caspain's smile slowly faded, "Yes, I mean. I am very lucky, aren't I, my queen?" Everybody watched them, Rhaenyra's lips parted
"Yes. Yes, you are. Which is why I hope you consider yourself more than fortunate... to be wedded to a princess. You should be thankful," Everybody sat in silence while Daemon raised his brows beside Ector, pursing his lips.
"The princess Rhaenyra has been raised with delicate hands. Even I had the chance to take care of her back when she was still a kid. All I am just wanting to say it that I pray she has gone to the right hands that will protect her and love her. Consider yourself blessed by the seven gods to be given th–"
