"Oh hey (Y/N)!"
A surprised but excited voice calls out to you as you pick up a bag of chips, with your brother standing next to you.
"Oh! Cheng Xiaoshi!?" You cocked an eyebrow at the coincidence. However, you remembered that this town was really small, so it's truly odd that you two had never ran into each other before.
You greeted him politely, and your brother looked at you with a disgusted face upon seeing his sister being so sweet. You attempted not to notice his judgmental gaze.
There was also another girl next to him.
When Cheng Xiaoshi noticed you, the girl with short hair who had been spewing meaningless crap at him had stopped.
She scowled at Cheng Xiaoshi, frustrated that he was not listening to her. She followed his line of sight and stared at you, her eyes widening as she spoke,
"Wait so you're (Y/N) then? CHENG XIAOSHI TOLD ME ABOU-" her voice was muffled by a hand on her mouth belonging to the boy mentioned, as he glared at her.

"My name is Qiao Ling!" The girl grinned cheekily as she introduced herself, "Nice to meet you." She glanced slowly in Cheng Xiaoshi's direction,
"Cheng Xiaoshi told me about you quite a lot~"
(Y/N) felt his sharp gaze directed at Qiao Ling and laughed nervously, unsure of whether to accept the compliment or dismiss it.
While all of this was going on, your brother slowly snuck up on you and was now clutching your free hand with his little one while shyly looking down at the ground.
'I want to go home,' he thought
While you were talking to the other girl and exchanging phone numbers, Cheng Xiaoshi glanced at your brother. He smiled pleasantly at him as he walked towards him and bent down to his level, causing your small brother to flinch.
He was carrying a bag during their visit to the supermarket, and when he opened it, he presented your brother with the stuffed toy that was inside.
"Here~"
Your brother's eyes widened as he looked at the toy face full of curiosity.
You sighed, knowing how rarely your brother warmed up to strangers, even more so than you.
"I-I am too old for stuffed toys," he mumbled gently as he clung to you, clearly attempting to act maturely.
'You're eight' you thought while stifling a chuckle.
"Is that so?," Cheng Xiaoshi said tilting his head in wonder.
"Though I want to give it to you tbh, I got this for myself because it looked sooooo cute." Your brother looked stunned when he heard this.
"Too bad" The boy said dramatically as he got up and pretended to walk away, but he felt a gentle tug on his hoodie.
Your brother gave him an adorable puppy dog grin, so cute that even Qiao Ling smiled. "It is cute... so um can I have it?"
With a smile on his face, Cheng Xiaoshi reached down to gave him a head pat, and gently put the stuffed toy in his hand.
