'This is unfair'

When you noticed Cheng Xiaoshi and your younger brother laughing and chatting behind you, you frowned.

It was very easy for Cheng Xiaoshi to become something of an idol in your brother's eyes after the incident. With a sparkle in his eyes, he spoke to Xiaoshi while holding the stuffed toy tight to his chest.

"He is quite a charmer isn't he?" Your thoughts were stirred by Qiao Ling's quiet yet bold voice.

You two were standing farther away from the grocery door, but they remained close by. Qiao Ling had a tiny smile on her face. You gazed at them as they laughed, you had never seen your brother be so open with anybody but you. You were a little jealous, but you still admired Cheng Xiaoshi.

"Quite..." you said, eliciting a wider smile from Qiao Ling, who turned to face you.

She started, staring into your eyes, "He wasn't always like this though..." "There was a moment when, this smile of his, was nonexistent on his face"

(Y/N) was taken aback because she couldn't picture him without his signature smile. That smile that made her so weak.

She grinned and said, "I always thought of him as my brother, so seeing him smile like this makes me feel somewhat proud." She chuckled and turned to face Cheng Xiaoshi, who was giving your brother a high five.

"Though it may not seem so, all he had was Lu Guang and me. So (Y/N), thank you for being his friend."

Feeling bad about how highly she thought of you, you shook your head at her comment right away. "You shouldn't thank me, it was him that talked to me," you said.

In an attempt to overcome your reserved nature, you turned to face the grocery bag you were holding, but as soon as you saw his face, you spoke.

"Besides, who can resist being drawn to him—he is so...amazing," you said staring at him laughing. You were internally cringing at your poor selection of words.

 

"He is... He really is"

Qiao Ling's words hit her as more genuine. She was more aware of him, about all of his struggles, his moments of despair about his parents, and everything else.

And (Y/N) felt jealous.
That she didn't know him as well as her.
And she never might.

FUN FACT!!!!

1. This trip had originally included Lu Guang as well but he knew, if he comes, he had to pay for everything. So he refused.

2. (Y/N)'s brother has a collection of stuffed toys
