The Missing Prince

Chapter 2 ☑️

Naruto Pov:

This dinner should be just like any other. It should be but it feels off. At my right is Sasuke. I can tell he's also unhappy with the dinner. Hinata and Sakura aren't here. After one year of marriage to our respective wives we don't want to be seperated from them.

Yet here we are, the King of Konoha and the general, staring into our cups of wine miserably. Even amongst the chatter of my friends I can't muster a smile. I'm worried about Hinata.

Twenty minutes ago my beautiful wife ran out of the room, Sakura, Sasuke's wife, hot on her trail. Sakura had urged us all to stay and now here I am. Sasuke's not enjoying it anymore than I am.

Hurry up Hinata and Sakura.

Speak (or in my case think) of the devil and he shall come. In walks Hinata and Sakura.

Hinata and Sakura are smiling hugely. I feel so much better now knowing Hinata is back safely. She stands proud like the princess-now queen- she was always meant to be. Her face is flushed slightly but gaining colour. Noticing all eyes in the room on her her delicate elven ears turn red on the pointed ends.

Sakura keeps walking up to her seat next to Sasuke. She kisses his cheek and gives Hinata, who had remained at the doorway, two thumbs up.

My curiosity is eating at me. Still, I remain sitting wondering what the hell is going on. Hinata smiles briefly at me before turning to address the whole room. All our childhood friends wait on her breath.

"I have an announcement to make to all of you but first, Naruto will you please follow me? You should hear it first." Dutifully I rise out of my seat and place her delicate hand in my own.

I don't question anything yet because I know Hinata will tell me in due time. Still it's a struggle to remain quiet.

I'm escorted to a side room in the banquet hall. The door opens to reveal a hallway of doors. Jeez, I didn't even know about this place.

She leads me into a spare room, shutting the door firmly and pushing me gently into the bed.

"Naruto, I'm sorry for running out...but I think what I'm about to tell you will make up for it." She begins cautiously.

"Well? What's wrong Hinata? Are you okay? What's happened?" The questions stream out of my mouth, stopped only when Hinata puts a finger to my lips and giggles. I love her laugh.

But I won't let her get away with not telling me. She opened the floodgates and now I can't control the Dam.

"Don't laugh. Tell me what's wrong. Please" I add. My tone only amuses her more but she gives me a sympathetic smile and tells me.

"Naruto, congratulations. Your going to be a father." I let out a sharp gasp. Father? Child?!

"I'm pregnant?" I shout confused. Hinata steps back and covers her ears, wincing slightly. Oh that's right, Elves have really good hearing.

"I'm so sorry. Are you okay?"I whisper this time. She nods and looks slightly flustered.

"I'm pregnant Naruto." She says.

"Your pregnant too?" I'm trying to put the pieces together here.

She gives me a look. "Naruto" she begins slowly. " Only females can be pregnant, for any species. Do you get what I'm saying?"

Oh my goodness. "We're gonna have a child?" She nods.

I smash my lips to hers and grab her waist, hoisting her up into my arms.

"We're gonna have a child!" I yelp excitedly.

"Can I tell everyone?" I'm so giddy and happy right now. Nothing could ruin my mood even if she wants to keep it secret.

"Just our friends for now. Is that fine?" Of course it is darling Hinata. Instead of answering I press my lips against hers again and dash out of the room.

I burst in and everyone looks up.

" 'bout time you got here." Sasuke chides, "Any longer and we woulda dragged you out of that room. Sakura won't tell us anything." He continues grumbling.

I beam at everyone in the room, Hinata grins in my arms.

"We're gonna be parents!" I shout excitedly.

The next thing we know is we're being trampled in hugs and receiving congratulations from everyone in the room.
