Hinata Pov:

Naruto whimpers against my neck and all I can think is 'what have they done to Boruto.'

It's the only likely answer to why Naruto is having a breakdown on my shoulder in front of the snake mage and his son.

I pet Naruto's head consoling him. In the back of my mind I hear Sasuke order the snake mage and his son out.

Good, I think to myself.

I don't want them to see this.

They leave finally. Sasuke and Shikamaru sit so still I can hardly hear their breathing. It's good. It means I can focus on my husband.

"It's all my fault. If I had done better he would be here now. Not...not gone." He bawls.

"It's not your fault Naruto. It has never been and never will be your fault. We couldn't have planned for it. Never have dreamt of the horrors of people. Please believe me." I brush the tears from his cheeks softly and kiss each whisker mark on his face.

"But...Hinata." He gulps.

"No Naruto. So stop having a pity party and let's find these bastards that took our baby boy." I run my hand through his short hair.

It's soft as anything so different from its appearance.

Spiky looking but soft and bright. Much like my incredible man.

It also resembles Raijin. Prickly to guard his inner self.

I push thoughts of the boy away. This is about my family.

"Are you okay now?" I know it's a stupid question. He won't be okay for a long time, by we have to go forward as much as we can.

He nods and stands up pulling me with him.

Sasuke spares him a look of sympathy but goes back to fiddling with the crystal in his hand.

"That's the memory crystal?" I ask.

He nods.

"Should we wait for Meiko?" I ask. I genuinely mean that. I want to dive into the memory but Meiko has as much stake in this as us.

"Yes you should." Meiko says from the other side of the castle.

"I've just walked with Raijin back to his room give me three minutes." She replies.

"Don't shift." I threaten. She can hear me as well as I can hear her. Owls have incredible hearing almost on par with elves.

I hear her twinkle laugh. Her laughs means she going to anyway.

"Brat." I frown. It's not funny the amount of times she's shifted without Boruto.

I drag Naruto to a seat and we gather around the crystal.

Meiko shaves off her time with eighteen seconds to spare.

I shoot her a frown. She sticks her tongue out. I huff irritated. I'm worried about her.
