The Missing Prince

Chapter 12☑️

Naruto Pov:

"Well that was definitely the most interesting parade I've ever had. Y'know." I say to no one in particular. Hinata looks over at me, her expression is completely blank and now I feel completely stupid.

Sasuke appears next to me with his shadow walk, frightening me so bad that I jump onto the back of the carriage, exactly where that kid had landed moments before.

"Don't do that!" I shout. Sasuke gives me a blank stare. "It's time to go back to the castle. Say your last goodbye to the people and then go." Sasuke orders, already turning his back to us and assembling what's left of the royal guard.

Himawari is tucked into Hinata's arms quietly crying. Meiko comes out from the building where the attempted assassins were. She has a small trail of blood on the left side of her mouth and her silver-blonde hair is dishevelled. She grips her left shoulder as she makes her way over.

"What happened? Are you okay? Nothing serious? Tell me damn it!" I fire question after question at the limping shifter while helping her into a seat in the carriage.

"Where's that boy?" She completely changes the subject.

"Not important." I observe her injuries critically, "Now answer my questions." I demand.

She huffs annoyed while our carriage is turned back to the castle.

"I went to help Sasuke. He was doing fine. I looked up to the boy that saved your lives. He was not in trouble but looking like he could use backup. The kid was pissing off the man- Okanzai- and dodging his attacks well. I shifted to this form and landed on top of Okanzai with a dagger pressed to his throat. His skin hardened to stone and he threw me off his back. Sasuke and the rest of the guards were doing fine, about to clean up the rest of the assassins when one of them grabbed the kid and threw him to the side. He collided with Sasuke, but then fell of the building." Meiko looks distressed at that. "Is he okay?"

I pick up her story from there. "We watched the kid fall down the side of the building, at the third floor he kicked out with his foot, did a flip and landed on the back of the carriage. He kicked a guard off his pegasus, yelled, 'stupid horse with wings. Just go.' and then took off." Her face creases in confusion. 

"How's that possible I thought-"

"Pegasus only allow they're bond mate to fly/ ride them. Yeah I know it was a shock to us too." I butt in.

"So he's fine?" She asks confusedly.

"I think so." I hedge.

"He's not fine Daddy! There were three daggers coming and one of them hit him!" Himawari cries. Meiko freezes in shock, I'm sure I look the same. I look at Hinata for a confirmation, she nods once and turns back to consoling Hima.

"Oh gods." Meiko pales, her normally tan complexion ghost white.

"What's wrong?! What happened?! Meiko!" I wrap her in a hug to contain her shaking.

"MEIKO!" I shout. Twin violet fires look up at me, her eyes are dimmer then usual though.

"The...the blade is still...there...in his stomach." She stutters against my chest. I stroke her hair calmly hoping to console her. It always works for Hinata and Himawari. I nod my head over and over. That must have been a horrible sight.
