Mini Boruto Pov:
I giggle as we traverse down the hidden corridors. We can hear everything the adults are saying through the stone walls but they can't hear us.
Shikidai is grinning from ear to ear as we leave. "Nice work." We high five and leave to the outside.
"How long do you think we have?" He asks.
"Mmm, 'bout three hours maybe?" I reply.
"Okay. Let's get going then." He decides and we skip along the hidden passages. I zero in on the conversation and grin when I hear they'll be stuck for about three hours at least.
I was right.
"What do you think their up too?" Sasuke asks his friends.
"Trouble." Shikamaru replies.
I laugh at his hopelessness.
"What?" Shikidai asks me.
I shake my head "Your a lot like your dada y'know."
"I'm glad then. My dad is a good man." He grins at me.
"I sense a 'but' at the end y'know." I reply.
Shikidai huffs. "But I wish he would tuck me in some more. He's always busy. It's such a drag."
"But he tries too, right? He tries to tuck you in when it's possible, right?" I ask.
"I don't know. He hasn't tucked me in for year and a half." He replies sadly.
I throw my arm around his shoulder and grin at him. "His loss not yours. Make him regret it. It's not your fault."
"I don't know. I guess so." He faces me and gives me a grim smile. "Thanks."
"No problem." I smile at him.
We pass by the kitchen and I stop for a second and smell the air. We're opposite the oven and it smells delicious.
Annoyingly though, any thought of food makes me sick. Stupid, fucking master.
Last night I had awoken to searing pain on my stomach. Quietly I left princess Meiriko and checked what was happening in the mirror.
Scrawled on my stomach in the special writing that we were taught were the words
'we're coming for you'.
It's been barely eight hours since the writing but it still hurts like hell and Sasuke didn't help when he tickled me.
But...I trust him more now. As stupid as the notion is, I trust Sasuke. And Hinata. And Meiko. And Shikidai. I shouldn't but I do now and I will until I get the inert reasoning of why I shouldn't.
"I've never seen uncle Sasuke act that way." Shikidai comments breaking through my reverie.
"Is that so? What's he normally like?" I ask. What I know of him is that he is fiercely protective, socially awkward and reasonable and calm.
"Sarcastic, judgy and pessimistic."
"What's pessimistic?" I ask feeling stupid.
"When you see the worst in every possible situation. Like, if you were given an ice-cream and you were instantly like 'its a bad flavour' or 'I'll drop it' or 'the second I eat it, it will rain, I'll get soaked and I didn't even want to face the public because who da heck likes people?'." Shikidai explains.
