Hinata Pov:
Naruto treads carefully into the room. He must have gotten a scolding from Sakura. I smile at him delightedly. In my arms lays out perfect child.
"He looks just like you." I whisper, hoping to keep our baby asleep. Our child really does look like Naruto. He has his shiny gold hair and two whiskers on his adorable cheeks instead of three. If it weren't for the slightly pointed ears you would never know he was related to me.
Naruto is standing next to me now. Fascinated in our child. I am too. There are tears in Naruto's eyes.
"Would you like to hold him?" I know the answer, but I'm asking just to make sure he's comfortable with the baby. He hesitates, then nods. Cradling the baby to my arms I place him gently in his fathers stretched hands.
"Make sure to support his neck." I caution the mother in me already come to life. His hands are shaking slightly but still when he fully has the baby in his arms. His grin is radiant.
"What are we gonna call you?" He coos to the baby and me.
"Why don't we call him Boruto. In memory of Neji and your father." I suggest. He nods along with it.
"Boruto Uzumaki." He says testing it out.
"It's perfect Hinata." He grins. He places his right hand near Boruto's face, who for all his lack of practice, grabs Naruto's index finger and holds it to his chest. It's my turn to tear up. He's his fathers little man for sure. Naruto walks around the bed and sits down so we can both play with baby Boruto.
News spreads around quickly and soon enough the whole gang and my family is here. Everyone is awing at our little son and wanting a turn to hold him. I now understand how Temari felt. She had the first baby, only a month separates when our children were born.
In Temari's arms is her own little one, Shikidai. Just like Boruto, Shikidai has inherited most of his father's (Shikamaru) looks. The only thing he got from Temari is his bejewelled green eyes. She smiles sympathetically.
At the same time Boruto and I yawn, starting up another round of 'awes'. Sakura comes out from the bunch and says "Everyone can leave now. Hinata and her child need sleep. So shoo please."
"Thank you for coming everyone. We'll see you at dinner." I placate everyone. After a last round of congratulations and goodbyes I look up to Naruto. He hasn't stopped smiling since he walked in.
"Do you think Sakura would mind if we left the hospital to sleep in our own bed?" I wonder to Naruto.
"Do you want to? If you do, then, probably not. But we should leave her message." He says. That's very smart.
Leaving the note, we trudge up the stairs. This time I'm holding Boruto. I'm tired but I will not miss time with my baby.
After, stairs and stairs we come to our bedchamber. Chivalrously, Naruto opens the door for me. I breeze in, my elvish nature helping my grace. It also enhances my hearing. I look up ready to defend my baby, only to see an owl on the window sill.
It's no ordinary owl. It's beauty and size already making it stick out like a sore thumb. No what makes it out of the ordinary is it's purple eyes. The eyes of a shifter.
"What do you want?" I tense. If it wants to hurt my baby I'll end them. Beside me Naruto steps in front casually blocking us from view of the shifter, but not our view of it. The shifter shudders, then in a burst of purple appears as a girl.
The girl has long silver-blonde hair that reaches her waist and falls in thick curls. Her face is angular and she has a small round nose. Her clothes are plain and her cape is pulled back to show us she has no weapons on her person.
"My name is Meiko Anemari. I'm not here to harm you." Her tone is lilting and peaceful. Naruto doesn't drop his guard but he does drop his dagger to his side.
"Why are you here." Naruto all but growls. The shifter doesn't flinch.
"I'm here to give your baby a gift from the shifter queen herself." Naruto and I each shoot each other a look. How did the shifter queen know about our child.
"It was foreseen your highnesses. Please, you know shifters are peaceful. We would never willingly hurt others. You can trust us." She pleads. I come out from behind Naruto, who doesn't look happy with my decision.
"What is it that your queen sends?" I'm interested to know. "And why specifically is it for our child?" I stroke my baby's hair.
"It's very sacred to our culture." She answers and slowly puts her hand in a pouch at her side. After rummaging around for a moment she finds what she is looking for. Our eyes are immediately drawn to the necklace in her outstretched hand.
"It's shifter necklace." I blurt out. Shifter necklace are rumoured to be very powerful and only a handful are made every year for the shifter royalty. They're also said to contain more magical enchantments than a pixies gold storage.
"You're giving this to us?" I say uncertainly.
"No. Not to you. To your son. No offence your highnesses but this one was crafted specially for the little prince." She replies.
I don't know what to say to that so I keep my mouth shut. Naruto, however does not.
"Why are you giving it to our son?" His tone could snap metal. I place a hand gently on his back. Looks like Naruto is going to be an over protective father. The shifter huffs a little, otherwise no outward signs of her feelings are shown.
"Listen it's a gift. We mean no harm. We simply want to give it to your son as an act of peace. Judging by your Queens reaction she knows something's about the necklace. All good things I might add. Now I'm very busy but my Queen asked me to stay until the necklace has been given to the child. So please let's stop wasting time. Your Queen clearly wants to go to sleep so let's allow her to instead of talking politics." She looks Naruto hard in the eye.
He takes a step back suprised. I step forward to accept the necklace in his stead.
"Thank you and your Queen for this gracious gift." I walk up and present Boruto to her. She smiles at him immediately adoring him.
Carefully she clasps the necklace around his neck. The necklace is gold and has a small gold circle as the pendant. It corresponds well with his golden hair and right before my eyes the Uzumaki clan symbol appears on the pendant.
The shifter smirks. "Bye my little prince." She coos.
She backs away and hops up onto the the window sill.
"One last thing before I go, I'll be coming back every year to check up on you three." And with that parting statement she hops out of the window and changes back into her owl form.
Naruto comes and stands next to us. I lean against him, my eyelids already drooping.
"Not even a day old and your already pulling the ladies huh little guy?" He smirks and picks the both of us up. "Time for bed." He whispers and lays us on the bed.
