Boruto Pov:

"Remind me again why I haven't killed you y'know?" I ask Camo.

The stupid arsehole throws me a pouty face before throwing a shoe at me.

"Because I'm awesome and if I were to ever die your whole reason for living would cease and you'd crumble into a ball of self pity and loathing before succumbing to an undesirable date of loneliness and death." He answers.

I snort and Penn leans into my shoulder as she giggles.

"Let's see what the smart one has to say, Inksie Jinxie?" I throw the question to her.

"Because as stupid, arrogant and irritating as he may be, we need his help occasionally but remember, don't tell him or his already giant ego will swell up." She answers with a straight face.

It sets Penn and I off again as Camo scowls in our direction.

"Your just jealous Ink. You wish you could be like me." He slumps down on his ratty bed and closes his eyes.

"Even if the offer was a lifetime of being able to see but the trade-off was to have your personality I'd choose to stay exactly the way I am."

Did I forget to mention Ink is blind?

Well, here it is. Ink is blind and has been since we were children. Doesn't make her any less fearsome though, actually it kinda adds to the creepy vibe.

"Yeah yeah, tell yourself that." He yawns.

Seven hours since our unexpected departure from the castle leaves us here; where is here? I don't even know.

It's just an old abandoned outpost that is near the storage facility that we're going to break into tonight.

The storage facility doesn't look guarded at all but this is where all our information is. Our identity, our families. Everything.

Rhythmically, I tap Penn's knee cap from where I lie beside her. She stopped caring after the fifteenth tap. She knows my ticks.

"Why did you even bother to tell me to hurry up? We're not breaking in until ten o'clock y'know." I complain. I could've stayed with Lady Hinata and Shikidai and princess Meiriko and Himawari and Sarada and Uncle Sasuke and Naruto and etcetera etcetera.

I close my eyes and lean my cheek on Penn's thigh. The dreams, gods the dreams. I spent most of my night on look out duty to avoid it.

Penn moves her finger slowly across my shoulder to form a word.

'Home'

What is home? The place where I can pretend I have freedom, where I can imagine a different life and a different family.

"Yes Penn."

"Huh? Context." Camo inquires.

"None of your fucking business y'know." I growl.

"Beasty Boy. Don't be so harsh on him. We've all done things we regret. It's part of survival. I know it hurts very very much, but you have to move on from blaming Camo." Penn scolds.
