I entered Ancilla in the general Fiction category because I really don't have any idea of how best to categorize Ancilla, and let's face it, litfic is the House Hufflepuff of categories - the Ex Miscellanea for any of you who have ever played Ars Magica. My entry was accepted. I just found out now that my judge is @LiloClasie
I also entered Excavations in poetry. It appears to be accepted. The poetry judge is @A-person1410
UPDATE (5/7/2024) - Ancilla did not win anything. On the other hand, it was one of only four books listed as entries for Fiction, and when the winners were announced, there were exactly four... including a book that hadn't even been listed as an entry. The book that took fourth place had some rather critical comments about the grammar (not sure if the judge knew the author's first language is not English) and scored 70 out of 100. I think maybe Ancilla was, as they say, "lost in the sauce." Alternately, my judge thought Ancilla was so dreadful that they begged to have a replacement book to judge in its place. I won't rule that out.
Still waiting to hear about the poetry results.
UPDATE (5/7/2024) - The contest was discontinued early.
