Contest sponsored by MacabreMortem.
I entered Ancilla in Dark Romance (look, if Ray Bradbury's almost anti-science future stories can be classified as science fiction, my "subvert the tropes of dark romance! burn them! burn them all down to the ground!" approach to dark romance makes me a dark romance writer).
I also entered Excavations in Poetry.
I have no idea if my books were accepted, or if the contest is a go. It's a cool contest, so I hope it's still on.
UPDATE (11/10/24)
Excavations did terribly. I'm not getting my hopes up for Ancilla. This is the second contest hosted by the Elayne Community that I've done poorly in; I'm seeing a trend. The question is whether or not I'll keep entering their contests to continue to give myself exposure (since that's likely to be the only payoff I'll get).
UPDATE (1/26/25)
Ancilla got second place in Dark Romance.
Finally, a contest hosted by the Elayne community that I actually placed well in. Maybe I finally broke my jinx?
