Chapter 5

Previously on Chapter 4

"Right on point... of course, I know you're the team that won the Football Frontier. The team who'd be fighting against the aliens. I just want to test out your skills since I don't want to just entrust this task to just anyone" she said, placing her hands on her hips. She grins at me. "You did well figuring that out..." she said, making me smile at her comment. She's quite a good player. Maybe if she joins us, it'll add more strength to our play.

Y/N P.O.V

We finally got a clue where the Aliens are. So we head there. Touko decided to come with us, because she wants to get an answer about where they took her father. Of course, we let her come.

"Reize!!" Endou yelled out, just as they're about to leave. The captain for their team that Endou had just called out to slowly turn around. A smirk is present on his face as he stares at us.

"Yo, Endou... I see you've a new member. A cute one too" he said. His eyes are directed right on me. I just stare at him with my eyebrows furrowed, frowning at what he said. He turn his body around to fully face me. "Say, what's your name, cutie?" He said, staring at me with a flirty smile. I crunch up my nose in disgust.

"Not that it's any of your business. But to keep things formal, my name is L/N Y/N" I said, coldly. The smirk on his face widens a little. "Would you stop giving me that look! You're being creepy" I said, glaring at him.

"Quite feisty as well... you're an interesting girl" he said. Someone moves to stand in front of me, blocking me from the Gemini Storm's captain's view. "Ah, Gouenji. Getting quite protective of her now, are we?" He said, smirking teasingly. I stare at Gouenji's back. I didn't expect him to react this way.

"Enough talking! Let's just start our match!" Endou yelled out. His outburst earn the attention of the Gemini Storm's captain. "We will win this time!!" He said. The opponent's captain only smirks.

"I don't have time to accept your challenge. According to the rules, you'd need 11 members to play" he said. Touko steps forward and takes off her uniform to reveal Raimon soccer team's uniform. She declares herself as the 11th member. Reize finally agrees to battle with us.

A While Later

We take our positions. I'll be claiming my spot as the striker, alongside Gouenji. Gouenji gently pass the ball towards me. I start running forward while kicking the ball, making sure to be aware of my surroundings to not give them a chance to steal the ball from me.

But my path soon got blocked by them. I jump high in the air. "Gouenji!!" I yelled out, kicking the ball towards the Flame Striker. He accepted the ball. Just as he was about to use the combo technique with Kazemaru. He seems to be distracted about something. Which makes the attack failed.

I notice he's staring somewhere. I turn my head to see three men. My eyes widen at the sight of them. They're wearing glasses but I know they're also watching me. I close my eyes as I try to control my nerve.

'No, I can't hesitate. Not right now' I thought to myself. I have got to prove myself that I'm a reliable ally for this team. If I can't do that, the coach will remove me. I can't afford to let that happen, because I have yet to succeed my mission.

"L/N!!" A voice called out. I notice the opponent rush towards me. I quickly take a stance, getting ready to block the attack. I lift my feet behind me.

"Wall of Flame!!" I exclaimed. A line of flame forms around her. I speed towards her, succeeding in taking the ball. I focus my attention at the opponent's goal. I turn my head to the side to see Gouenji and Kazemaru. "Go for it!" I yelled out, kicking the ball to Kazemaru.

They try to use their combo attack again, but once again, Gouenji seems distracted. Did those men threaten him with something. My eyes widen as the ball speeds up towards me.

"L/N!!!" A voice yelled out. I don't know what to do. The ball is coming to fast for me to use any technique. I shut my eyes tightly, bracing myself for an impact. But it didn't come. I open my eyes to see Someoka have took the hit.

"Someoka!!" I yelled out, rushing over to his side. He hold his ankle in pain for kicking the ball. I place my hand on his shoulder. I stare at him worriedly. "Why'd you sacrifice yourself for me like that?" I said.

He turned his head to look at me and smiles. His face still shows he's in pain. "Because we're a team... we'll have to look after each other" he said. My eyes widen at what he said. A team... these people considers me as a teammate. I lower my gaze as I feel tears gathering in my eyes.

The game ended with us losing the match. The Gemini Storm leave the area. I drop on the ground in exhaustion as I try to catch my breath. It's been so long since I had an intense match like that. Those aliens sure are strong.

"Are you okay?" Kazemaru asked as he stared at me. I turn my head to look at him and nod my head. "Can you stand?" He asked, offering his hand to me. I smile as he gently pulls me up.

Coach Hitomiko walks up to us. "Gouenji..." she said. The flame striker turn his head to look at her. "I want you off the team" she said, plainly. Everyone let out a gasp as my eyes widen at what she said. Is she serious? She wants to kick Gouenji off the team?? Our ace striker?

Gouenji didn't say anything as he turns around. Endou chases after him. I follow them, not wanting Gouenji to leave. But what can I do to stop them. I don't know these people long enough to understand them. In the end, I just stopped as I watch the captain chases after the flame striker.

Endou soon return, stating that he didn't manage to stop Gouenji from leaving the team. Everyone's moods drop as they feel devastated at the news. I lower my gaze as I let out a sigh. I really have to be careful, so I can remain in this team.

The coach clearly has no mercy. I've got to be careful. If I let myself slip up. She'd kick me out without hesitation. I have to be careful with my action when carrying out the mission given to me, at the same time being careful to not stand out too much to cause any suspicion. This is the only way for me to be able to continue playing what I love most. I've got no other choice.
