Chapter 43

Previously on Chapter 42

"Don't joke around!!! L/N's not an object!" Kidou yelled out as he moves to stand in front of me protectively. But Gazel has already disappears from our sight. I just stare at the spot in disbelief. Next match? So if we lose... he's going to take me whether I like it or not? I feel my body trembles in fear. Will I ever be free from Aliea's grasp?

Y/N P.O.V

"L/N?" A voice called out, snapping me out of my daze. I blink my eyes and turn to see it's Gouenji. "Are you all right? Are you worried about what Gazel said earlier?" He said. I turn my head away from him.

"You know we're not going to let that happen, right?" Kidou said, as he walks up to me. I turn my head to look at him. "None of us would. No way in hell we would let a bunch of aliens freaks take you away from us" he said. I just give him a small smile. I turn to look at the others to see everyone is agreeing with his comment.

"Thank you so much for always having my back, guys..." I said, smiling softly at them. They smiles brightly at me. I always feel comforted whenever they're by my side. I couldn't ask for a better teammates and friends. It kinda made me miss my old team. I wonder how everyone is doing.

Night time soon falls and everyone is having meals. I calmly eat my food as Kogure decided to be mischievous once again. He had poured some hot sauce on the food. I let out a sigh as I close my eyes, chewing the food in my mouth.

Kogure turn his head to look at Gouenji. I turn my head as well as he takes a bite. Kogure looks disappointed when Gouenji shows no reaction. However, something did happen as soon as he takes a bite of his own.

"I switched the food in advance..." Gouenji said. I let out a soft giggle at what he said. Looks like Kogure finally gets a taste of his own medicine. I shake my head lightly as Kogure runs around because of the spiciness.

"Well played, Gouenji..." I said, still giggling softly. He turn his head to look at me and smiles softly. I continue to eat the food until I'm done with my meal. I stands up and excuse myself, before walking off.

I find myself back in the same spot I talked to Tsunami the previous night. I hear footsteps coming closer as I look up at the sky. I turn my head to see it's Gouenji. I stare at him as he approaches me.

"How are you feeling?" He asked. I just smile at him as I assure him that I'm okay. I turn my head to look at the sky once again. We stand in silence as we enjoy the soft breeze the air provides for us.

"So... L/N?" Gouenji said, breaking the silence. I turn to look at him, humming softly to let him know I'm paying attention to him. "I had a little catch up with the others earlier. And I heard that they have all confessed to you when you were trying to leave..." he said. I let out a sigh and close my eyes.

"Yeah... it's crazy how all of them ended up falling for me" I said. I turn my head to look at him. He just stares at me, without saying anything. "Well, I mean... what's there to like about me? I'm just an ordinary girl. Nothing is special about me..." I said.

"Well, what's there not to like about you, L/N?" He asked. I stare at him in confusion. "You're beautiful... kind-hearted and loyal. You've proven yourself many times that you can be someone we can lean on" he said. I stare at him in shock at the words that came out of his mouth. He turn his body to face me. "And it looks like I have a lot of competitions, huh?" He said, smiling softly at me.

"G-Gouenji... y-you" I stuttered out. He smiles at me and nod his head, letting me know that he's also in love with me. I shake my head in disbelief. I turn my head away from him. and gently run my hand through my hair. "I can't believe this..." I muttered.

"I've also heard about the fact that you'd be giving an answer to one of us after we defeated Aliea Academy" he said. I turn my head to look at him. He stares at me with a smile and a look of determination reflecting in his eyes.

"There's someone you like among us, right? It might not be me right now. But I promise I will try my best. So I'll be the one you choose in the end, L/N..." he said. I just stare at him, not knowing what to say. He steps closer to me. He lift his hand, gently brushing some strands of hair behind my ear. He cups my cheek tenderly. His thumb gently caressing my skin. "I love you, L/N..." he said. He lean down, placing a soft kiss on my forehead.

"U-Um... I'm tired, Gouenji. I'll go and head to sleep now, okay?" I said, backing away from him. He just smiles at me and nods his head. His eyes reflects hurt because of my reaction. It makes me feel guilty. But I can't help it.

"So, uh... goodnight, Gouenji..." I said. I give him a quick hug to make up for it. He wraps his arms around me, giving me a light squeeze before letting me go. I turn around and walks away, leaving him there by himself.

Gouenji P.O.V

I watch L/N walks away. A soft smile graze on my lips, as I watch her figure gradually become smaller until she is out of sight. I let out a soft sigh, as I lean my back on the wooden fence of the bridge. I lean my head back as I stare at the sky. L/N's right... watching the sky does feel calming.

My mind went back to the moment everyone told me they've told L/N about their feelings for her, while I was gone. I'm not going to give up. I will try my best to win her heart.

I hope it's not too late for me. I hope I would be able to be the one she'd choose in the end. The only thing I can do now is show her how much I truly love her. As will the others. So, guess I'll just have to keep trying.

I turn to look at the spot where she had walked off to. A soft smile starts to form on my face as I recall the look on her face. I lift my hand, placing it on my chest where my heart is as I think about her.
