Chapter 20

Previously on Chapter 19

"Please don't switch me off, Coach. I promise you, I'm all right" I said. In the end, coach agrees to let me keep playing the match. Kidou seems unhappy with this. But I don't give a mind to him. I'm done with just watching them play like their lives depends on it. I want to fight with them. I'll be stronger and we'll be able to win this match.

Y/N P.O.V

The second half soon begins. Everyone in Raimon team are struggling. We have to win but we don't know how to strike without having Genda use that move. We need to score if we want to win. The only thing we're able to do was kicking the ball back and forth, while making sure the ball didn't get to Sakuma.

"Please listen, Sakuma. This isn't worth hurting your body" I said, as I try to block him from getting the ball. He push past me as he tries to steal the ball. Fudou steps in and manage to get the ball from me. "No!!" I yelled out.

I watch in horror as he uses the technique once again. I rush forward and appears in front of Endou. "L/N... don't!" Endou yelled out behind me. But I ignore him. I keep my focus on the ball that's advancing towards me.

"Wall of Flame!!" I yelled out, stretching my arms as a wall of flame appears in front of me. I grit my teeth in pain as I try my hardest to keep blocking the ball. Pain surges through my body until I'm unable to hold it. The ball eventually broke through my technique, and crashes into my chest. My body gets thrown back, colliding into Endou as the two of us get thrown back into the goal.

My whole body aches painfully, as I seem to have reach my limit. I try to get up, but my body refuses to listen to me. The pain become too much as I give in to the pain. I close my eyes, feeling my surrounding went dark.

3rd P.O.V

Endou let out a groan out of pain. But the pain isn't too much because L/N's technique has slowed down the attack significantly. His eyes shot open as he turned to look at L/N who lays motionlessly next to him.

"L/N!!" He yelled out. He scoops her up in his arms, so her head is rested against his chest. "Oi. Wake up, L/N! Open your eyes!" He said, lightly shaking her as he tried to wake her up. His heart grows desperate as L/N didn't respond to him. Her eyes remain close as she remains motionless.

Kidou who witnessed what happened, clenched his hands into tight fists. "KAGEYAMA!!!" He yelled out, angrily as he turns to look at where Kageyama stood. He feels angry because he can't protect both of his friends and the girl he loves from such a wicked man.

They've failed to prevent Sakuma from shooting the forbidden technique the third time. Fudou kicked the ball towards him for another time. Everyone gasped in shock when Sakuma can only stand. His eyes wide as he seems to be in great pain. His body eventually falls back. Genda rushes over to him. But he remains unresponsive.

The submarine eventually starts falling apart. Everyone rushes towards safety. A helicopter came in time to save everyone.

Kidou is standing in front of Kageyama. "I can't believe I agreed to go along with you all those times!! Now not only did you hurt my friends. You hurt L/N too!!" He yelled. Kageyama only smirks and claim that Kidou was the perfect subject that he had ever created. A hand grab Kidou and pulls him to the helicopter.

The injured ones are soon taken to the hospital, along with L/N. Everyone gets inside the caravan because they want to make sure L/N is all right. Tension can be felt along the ride. Neither of them utter a word as they are all worried for the h/c haired girl.

They rush inside the hospital just the same time as L/N is pushed towards the ICU. The nurse told them to wait outside so the doctor can focus on treating her. None of them tried to argue as they obediently wait outside.

"This is all my fault... if only I was strong enough. She wouldn't have to sacrifice herself for me" Endou said. Guilt is growing in his heart. He can't bear the thought that L/N is hurt after trying to aid him. If only he was much stronger, and stop the shoot. L/N wouldn't have ended up this way.

"No, Endou. L/N would hate if she hears what you said about yourself. It's not just L/N. All of us would've do the same. You're not just our captain. You're our friend. You'd do the same for us too, right?" Kazemaru said. Endou only lowers his head. What Kazemaru said is true. He would've done the same as L/N to protect his teammates, because they're all friends.

The door to the ICU opens and the doctor steps out. In an instant, everyone is on their feet. They stare at the doctor expectantly, desperate to hear the news about their friend's condition. A soft smile spread on the doctor's face.

"Ms. L/N is all right. There's no major injury inflicted on her body. She should be awake soon" he said. Everyone let out a sigh of relief. A nurse walks out of the room and whispers something to his ear. "Ah, she is awake. All of you can go to see her. But be sure to not be too loud as she still needs to rest" he said. Everyone instantly makes their way inside the hospital room.

Y/N P.O.V

The first thing I hear is a beeping sound. I slowly open my eyes to see a ceiling above me. I wince in pain as I try to move my hands. My sound catches the attention of the nurse tending to me.

"Ah, you're awake, Ms. L/N! Hang in there, okay? I'll let the doctor know" she said. I nod my head weakly. She turn around and walks out the room. I just lay still. My mind went back to what had happened before I lost consciousness. Is everyone okay? Did we win the match against the True Teikoku Academy?

The door opens to reveal everyone. A weak smile starts to form on my lips at the sight of them. Tears starts to gather in their eyes, as they rushes over to circle around me.

"You need to stop worrying us so much, L/N!" Kino said, scoldingly. I close my eyes as I let out a nervous laugh. I mutter a soft apology to her. A soft smile starts to form on her lips. She places her hand on top of mine. "What's important is that you're okay, L/N..." she said.

"Sorry that I keep on worrying everyone..." I said. I feel bad for making them worry about me all the time. I wish I could have been stronger. If I was stronger, none of this would have happened. I'll train harder. I'll be stronger.
