Chapter 38

Previously on Chapter 37

I feel my breathing became irregular. Kidou notices this and rushes to stand next to me. He places his hands on my shoulders. I can't hear what he's trying to say. But I have a feeling that he's trying to tell me to calm down. I shut my eyes tightly, as I recall what Burn just said. The Aliea Academy are still after me. No matter what I do... I'll never be free.

Y/N P.O.V

I feel my body getting shake lightly. I slowly open my eyes after shutting them tightly. I blink my eyes as my view becomes a little clearer. My eyes are met with a pair of teal grey eyes that is filled with worry.

"Fubuki" I said. He let out a sigh of relief, after gaining my attention. I turn my head to look at the others to see everyone is surrounding me. They all stare at me with a  worried gaze. "A-Ah! I'm... I'm okay. I was just a little shaken up by what Burn just said. But I'm all right now. I'm sorry, everyone. I didn't mean to make any of you so worried about me" I said, trying to assure them that I'm all right.

"Just tell us if you feel any sort of discomfort okay? We don't want you to think that you can't talk to us about your problems" Otonashi said. I turn to look at her, and nod my head with a soft smile on my face. She smiles at me as she gently pat my shoulder.

It's now night time. But I couldn't fall asleep. What Burn said keeps circling around my head. I thought that after I decided to cut all sort of connection, I would finally be free from their grasp. But that's never the case. I can't run away from them no matter how hard I'd try.

"I knew you weren't okay..." someone said. I turn my head to see Kogure. He's the only one who didn't have feelings for me, since he's more like a brother. He walks over to me and takes a seat next to me.

"You're a really mistrusting person, Kogure" I said. He turned his head away from me after I said that. I turn my head to look at the sky. "I don't blame you. After all, you've been betrayed by the very person who brought you into the world" I said.

He turn to look at me with a surprised look, probably didn't expect that I know that. "Oh, Otonashi told me about it. Actually, she told all of us..." I said. He just hums at what I said. He places his hands behind his head, staring up at the night sky while leaning his back against the tree.

"They also told me about you" he said. I turn my head to look at him. He turn his head to look at me. "You were once a spy from the Aliea Academy" he said. My eyes widen at what he said. "But for some reason... I feel like I could trust you. The way you play against Epsilon and even sacrificed your own body to help Endou protect the goal. Not just anyone would be willing to do that. Only someone with a genuine heart. Like yours..." he said. I blink my eyes at what he just said. He smiles at me and offers his hand to shake with mine. "I'm glad that I to get to know you, L/N-San!" He said.

"I'm glad to know you too, Kogure" I said. I gently grab his hand to shake it. I feel a shiver running down my spine when I feel something. I lift my hand to see a living frog. I let out a shriek as I toss the frog away. "KOGURE!!!" I yelled out. He let out a snickers as he runs off. I huffed at how much a prankster that you can be.

The Next Day

We are gathered in a field. "All right, everyone! Let's practice!!" Endou said. I smile softly at his enthusiasm. I mean, we are all always excited when it comes to soccer. That's the one thing we all have in common. That's why we're a team!

"L/N!!! Endou!!!" A voice yelled out. We turn our heads to see Tsunami, riding a wave towards us. I stare at him in surprise as he jumps high and landed in the middle of us. His surf board soon follows not long after, making all of us jump in fright.

"You've scared L/N once to the point she nearly fainted. Do you even realize how dangerous this was??" Megane yelled, scolding him for being reckless. I place my hand on my chest, trying to calm my heart that's beating quite fast from the shock.

"Here, L/N..." Otonashi said, handing me a bottle of water. I quietly thanked her and start to drink, hoping it would help me calm down. She gently rub my back as Tsunami stared at me with concern.

"I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to scare you. I was just so excited to see you guys again. Especially you, L/N..." he said, grabbing a hold of my hand with both of his. I feel my cheeks growing warm at what he said. I clear my throat and pulls my hand out of his hold.

"I'm okay... don't worry" I said, smiling softly at him. He nods his head, grinning at me. "Why're you here, by the way?" I asked.

"Oh, I just want to ask you guys if you'd like to play with my soccer team?" He said. I blink my eyes as I stare at him with a surprised gaze. "After playing with you guys, and learned how fun it was... I ended joining my school's soccer club" he said.

"EEEHHHH???!!!" Everyone yelled out in surprise. I just smile at what he said. Glad that he picked up a passion for soccer because of us. Which means, we could recruit him into our team. Well, that is if he wants to join us.

Coach Hitomiko was against it at first. But in the end, she agrees to let us play against Tsunami's soccer team. He guides us to his school, which looks more like a resort than a school.

One of the player is wearing a pair of headphones on his head. He nods his head accordingly, probably feeling the beat. I notice he also makes a sound as if he's counting the beat. He seems like an interesting guy. This friendly match would probably be a fun and interesting one.
