Chapter 37

Previously on Chapter 36

I turn to look at the others, waving at them with a smile on their faces. I turn my body forward and walks away with Kidou to search for something that'll lead us to the Flame Striker. I truly hope it's Gouenji.

-The Flame Striker-

Y/N P.O.V

We are now gathering at a high point of Okinawa. None of us succeeded in finding the Flame Striker. Earlier we end up meeting a guy named Hijikata. Endou made a bunch of kids cry, which turned out to be his siblings.

I hear the sound of footsteps. I turn my head to see it's Domon and Fubuki. They're both guiding someone. I turn my head to look at the person. He looks familiar, but I can't seem to recall who he is.

"Hijikata said he'd help us find the Flame Striker" I said. Fubuki turn to look at me. "Since he's a local, it would be easier for us to find him" I said.

"Oh, that's not needed. The Flame Striker we're looking for is this guy, Nagumo..." Fubuki said. My eyes widen at what he said, as I turn to look at the red haired boy. He smirks as the rest of us gasps in shock. I feel a little disappointed. I really wished it was Gouenji.

"That's how it is... I'm Nagumo Haruya. You're the captain, right? Nice to meet you" he said. He turn his head to look at me. Even when he's staring at me, I can't figure out why he seems familiar. "Why don't you all test me? To see if I'm good enough for you" he said. The others seem to agree with his suggestion. But he chose the ones he wants to play with, including me.

"L/N isn't fit enough..." Domon said, placing a hand on my shoulder. I turn my head to look at him. "It's better if you choose someone else. We don't want her to collapse again, while she's still recovering" he said.

"Is that so? Well, what a shame..." Nagumo said. He steps closer to me. "I was really looking forward to be able to play with you. L/N Y/N, was it? I've heard so much about you" he said, staring into my eyes with his yellow eyes.

I let out a sigh, realizing he is persistent in wanting to play with me. I turn to look at Domon, placing my hand on top of his that is on my shoulder. "I'm gonna be fine... I'm a lot better now, Domon. Don't worry" I said. Domon turn to look at me with a worried gaze. I smile softly at him and turn to look at Nagumo. "Fine, I'll play too" I said, which makes his grin widens.

A While Later

Hijikata managed to find us a soccer field to play. I turn my head to see the others staring at me worriedly. "Are you sure you're fit enough to play, L/N-San?" Tachimukai asked. I smile softly at his concern. I place my hand on his shoulder, assuring him that I'm going to be fine. "If you feel exhausted... you should rest, okay?" He said.

"Yeah, I will. Thanks for caring about me, Tachimukai" I said, smiling softly at him. He blushes a deep shade of red. I turn my body around and head towards the field, claiming my spot as a forward player. 

He smirks as he kicks the ball high in the air. After that, he jumps. My eyes widen at how high he's able to jump. "Defense!!" Kidou yelled out, to Touko and Fubuki. The ball speeds towards her. But Nagumo kicks it again after landing briefly. His action breaks through Touko's move. Fubuki went to get the ball, but Nagumo is able to jump higher.

I rush forward to stop him, but he moves past me with ease. He jumps in the air again. He seems to spend more time in the air, than he is on the ground. "I'll fry you with my crimson flame!" He said. He lands on the ground and jumps again. He did a flip and kicks the ball. "Atomic Flare!!" He yelled out.

"Endou!!" I yelled out. Endou uses his Majin The Hand technique to try and stop Nagumo's attack. But he gets thrown back in an instant. He sits on the ground as he lightly shakes his head, grinning at Nagumo.

"That was awesome, Nagumo!" He said. I let out a sigh of relief, feeling how that Endou is all right. That was a strong attack from Nagumo. Nagumo looks really proud of himself. Everyone seems pleased, and also hopeful that we'd be able to defeat the aliens with Nagumo in our team.

Coach Hitomiko stands up. "I'll acknowledge that you'd be a good asset to the team. But before that, I have a few questions for you" she said. She walks up to him. I just stay silent as she walks towards him, stating about her responsibilities as the team's coach. Until she eventually stands in front of him. "First off... what school are you from?" She asked. I notice Nagumo gritting his teeth as he stares at her with an annoyed gaze.

"It's Aliea Academy..." someone said. We turn our heads to look up to see Hiroto standing at a structure. My eyes widen at the sight. I turn my head to look at Nagumo. My eyes widen when I realize why he looks familiar.

Hiroto kicks a black ball at him. Endou steps forward to save him. But he jumped up, taking the ball. He jumps high with a whirl of wind and reappears wearing a different outfits.

"Burn..." I said in a low voice, finally realizing who he is. The others turns to look at me, including Burn. He stares at me with a smirk. I feel shiver running down my spine at the look he's giving me.

"I'm a little hurt that you didn't recognize me, L/N-Chan..." he said. He stares at us in amusement, as the others circles around me protectively. "But yeah, this is the real me. Burn... remember that. I'm Aliea Academy, Prominence's captain" he said. He and Hiroto starts to have a conversation.

I flinch when Nagumo points at me. "One of our job is also to bring her back with us. You know that, didn't you?" He said. The next thing we know, the two of them vanishes from our sights with a flash of bright light.

I feel my breathing became irregular. Kidou notices this and rushes to stand next to me. He places his hands on my shoulders. I can't hear what he's trying to say. But I have a feeling that he's trying to tell me to calm down. I shut my eyes tightly, as I recall what Burn just said. The Aliea Academy are still after me. No matter what I do... I'll never be free.
